This book broke my heart. Having grown up considering the WWotW to be evil I was devastated to realize I'd never considered what could have caused her to be the way she was.
It's a fantastic concept that Maguire had developed into something which should surely be read before Wizard of Oz.

I appreciate the message she's sending and her incredible command of language, there are fantastic observations surrounding the reality that women have been and are still by and large considered to be inferior to men. It's a piece of work which is likely to be on the shelves of feminists the world over.
I just didn't enjoy it as I had expected to but still consider it to be a book that should be read at least once.

This was a book which was on special offer with takealot.com for Penguin Random House South Africa's book club members so I just had to get it (I just can't pass on a chance to grab a good deal) So far I'm thoroughly enjoying it though I'm disliking the idea of this Angie character already.

5 stars

I wasn't aware of the cozy sleuth genre but Frankie has got me hooked. Relatable characters, smooth transitioning across chapters, gripping plot.
