I've passed on getting this book so many times. I couldn't wrap my head around a dog being a good narrator. I didn't think the author could pull it off. So glad I finally read it, I couldn't put it down. A must read.

I have a problem believing stories involving memory loss. Too convenient for the author to control the character and it never felt real to me. So many things could have made this book better but it just felt blahhh.

A nice quick read. My only complaint is I would have liked the characters to express their thoughts on slavery and war more than they did. I really enjoyed the story more than I expected to.

Wasn't a personal favorite and a little predictable. I enjoyed it enough to plan on eventually picking up the sequel.

The Dinner | Herman Koch

This book is SO FRUSTRATING but I couldn't stop! The narrator drove me insane, like COME ON GET TO THE POINT. And, wow, this is the longest dinner EVER and WHYY would they have a discussion this secretive over dinner? In public?? Because they're screwed up, that's why. So disturbing but I LOVED IT.

Page 123. Was hoping for a little more action but I think this was written with a pretty young audience in mind. So far it's not bad.

Finished this one a while ago but wanted a refresher before I started book 4. It was just as good as it was the first time! This one is somehow even better than the first and second!

Awesome book! My only problem with this series (I'm only to book 4) is that I get so immersed and caught up in it that I need to give my mind a break! I have a million questions and quite a few theories! Tried reading them as I watched the show but I quit on season 2 because I'm afraid of spoilers!

I was waiting for something, and I mean ANYTHING to happen through the entire book. Not for me. I don't get the hype.

Such a good book that really makes you think. I enjoyed it so much but don't really know if I want to read the sequel. I kind of want to leave a good story where it is.

youngish-adult Agreed. Not reading the sequel!! 8y
AmandaSextonFerguson I agree. I like imagining Lou "living boldly." 8y

Some things in the end of this book confused me, still a good read.

This was the first book I read by Colleen Hoover and I really enjoyed it. I have read a couple more of her books hoping they would be as good as this one. So far, she has not been able to top this one for me.

I very rarely dislike a book, this is one of them. I guess I'm the minority in this, but the main character annoyed the hell out of me. I liked Colleen Hoover's book Hopeless but could not even come close to finishing this one.

I read this a while ago and I end up googling Katja Millay at least once a month to see if she has any other books coming out. Great writing! Very very talented author!
UPDATE: It's only 1.99 on Kindle! Go get it!

I wish I would have known how much I would like this book because waiting for the sequel has been torture. I actually thought it was a stand alone when I got it or I probably would have waited to read it. Can't wait for August!

I picked this for the unique style. You aren't actually reading a story, you are immersed in a world. You're reading emails, letters, IMs, surveillance observations, etc. I almost bailed but was eventually hooked and stayed up all night to finish it. Wasn't disappointed.

Not an easy book to rate. Very emotional and at times the characters could be really difficult to relate to. I don't regret reading it but it isn't exactly my style.

This is the type of book that needs to be read slowly. If you're looking for action and fast pace, you will not find it here. At some points I was frustrated but at the same time I appreciated the writers style and thought it was beautifully written. It was nothing that I expected it to be.

I read this book a while ago and it is still fresh in my mind. It kept me up at night thinking and worrying about the future. Matter of fact, it almost turned me into a doomsday prepper and I can barely cook!
