I read this when it first came out, but I haven't seen the movie. Is it any better than the book?

So much chanting of the Eagles fight song, and yelling. It got repetitive, especially the chapter of Pat's movie montage. It was mostly a good story and now I'm going to rewatch the movie to see how it compares to the book.
I‘m starting to feel like Matthew Quick has a bit of a formula, and I like it. Person undergoes seriously traumatic event - person is lifted up by a whole unlikely community that cares for them. Pat Peoples lost years of his life and his wife to a trauma he can‘t recall but which leaves him ready to fight whenever he hears a Kenny G song. His family, an army of Eagles fans, and a woman recovering from trauma of her own help him heal. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I liked the characters and the story, however, as a person who is not a fan of sport I struggled to appreciate the love for the game with the enthusiasm of Pat.
“I eagerly crack open the book and can feel myself getting smarter as I turn the first few pages.”
Wow I wish 😳😁📚
Just finished this for #dungeonsofreaders challenge (an idea of an italian tiktoker) and I liked it.
Not the best one by Matthew Quick so far, but still a good one!
I guess I will start Gone with the wind very soon 💪🏻🤟🏻
I really enjoyed this one, I found it oddly endearing
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Awful book. Forced myself to finish it and honestly can‘t say I enjoyed anything about it. Extremely rare for me to say this but ……. THE FILM WAS BETTER.
Whenever I watch The Eagles play I imagine Pat Peoples somewhere out there watching too.
Just me?
A surprisingly raw book. I have not watched the movie but from what I read that has more romance than the book portrayed.

Picked this book up because of #bookspin
I liked this! There was maybe more football than I liked, but still, overall I liked it. I really liked Pat‘s therapist. I did see the movie I-don‘t-know-how-many-years-ago and remember liking it, too, but I remembered very little about it. I believe it is why I decided to read the book, though. It is a very quick read
I very much enjoyed this one. ❤
Now I just need to watch the movie! 🎥
Home from an awesome trip to the mountains 🏔 to a cold house and no heat! The #silver lining is thankfully I have one gas wall heater and that we made it home safely! Felix and Fiona were happy to see me 🖤😽
I‘m behind and will catch up tomorrow ❤️❤️

How I feel whenever people mention liking the movie version of this 🤭
Next up is The Silver Linings Playbook. A re-read for book club.
It‘s 9pm and I‘ve come to bed to read a few chapters. Between being 31 weeks pregnant and mum to a toddler who hasn‘t slept all night for 3 months, I suspect I‘ll not get far before hitting the zzzz‘s. Good job they‘re short chapters!
Possibly because I knew it was a movie I expected great things from this book but didn't love it all that much. Will be interesting to see the film as others have recommended it.
When I think of #tailgating I think of this book. So good.
#Spooktober @Eggs
I am not a football fan at all, but I first read this book years ago because the main character loved the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Eagles were a big deal to everyone I knew when I used to live in NJ. That being said, I really liked this book, both then and now! It was sad and sweet and handled the topic of mental illness in an honest and empathetic way.

Loved this!
Pat has recently been released from the mandatory stay at a mental health facility where he has spent as undisclosed amount of time (years) away from his friends and family.
Always trying to see the silver lining, Pat returns with hopes to rekindle his relationship with wife, Nikki. What has he missed?
Loved Pat‘s character and all of his history during his apart time from his wife Nikki. Huge appreciation for mental illness.
Have to admit listening to this book I completely envision Bradley Cooper in the lead role. Great accompaniment for tonight‘s jog!
Taco Night made those 13,000 steps totally worth it!
#RedRoseSeptember #TubThumping is such a stadium anthem 🎵🏈🍺In fact, I heard it last week at the preseason Eagles game🦅 which always makes me think of the Bradley Cooper film based on the Matthew Quick novel 🎞 (this is how my mind works) photo of my son, his friend & hub taken at game last week 🎶 We'll be singin'
When we're winnin'
We'll be singin'
I get knocked down, but I get up again
You're never gonna keep me down🎶
Pat Peoples‘ story is uncomfortable in the very best way. He is good hearted, and we get ringside seats to his process of managing a mental health crisis. I‘d call it a medium dark read, though, since the Philly fandom and female friendship aspects mostly lighten the mood. Just like a cloud with Silver Linings! (More real and ultimately better than the movie.)

I think I bought this on a Daily Deal, so I‘d better read it, right? Poignant is one of the descriptions in the blurb. So far I‘d agree.

I read this one solely for the purpose of meeting the Book to Movie prompt for #Booked2019 because it was "available now" through Overdrive. I was definitely pleasantly surprised how much I ended up enjoying it. Maybe I should watch the movie now ?

For the love of mental health read this book.!!! How to fight for those who have lost their will to fight... and need to be reminded how incredibly strong and brave they are.
I don‘t usually enjoy reading the book AFTER seeing the movie, but it‘s been so long since I watched the film this is enjoyable. Got the morning run in, and excited to go see Dear Evan Hansen tonight!! #bookfitnesschallenge #audiorunning

I spent the day audio gardening to Silver Linings Playbook and am now relaxing by my pond admiring my work with this old lady cat.
Spending this rainy day finishing this Reader‘s Paradise puzzle I got for Christmas and drinking tea. Also, should I read the tagged book? Because I love this movie so much, so I have no clue why I never sought out the book to read.
As someone who has been "silver lining" things a lot recently, both for myself and others, is recently separated, and loves the spirit of Christmas- this was the perfect book to gobble up in 1 day!
I'm a big believer in things happening for a reason and people coming into our lives at particular times- maybe they stay, maybe not, maybe they're romantic partners or not but I think we need to throw our arms and hearts open and spread the love. ?
Did this somehow just turn into a Christmas read?
Lol perfect!!!!
I'm so watching the movie tonight- I've watched it before but now I'll get to do side by side comparison.
#audiobooks FTW
But what do I listen to tomorrow? Lol
#audiowalk #audiomarket #audiobaking #audiocleaning
5hrs down in one day...I'm totally finishing this book today. Groceries done, plum pudding in the works, couple loads of laundry done, clean apartment...on to some stretching and then Christmas wrapping. Damn good day!
Merry almost Christmas!!🎄🎄🎄
Just finished listening to this. At first, I didn‘t think the narrator was a good choice but after just a short while into this short listen, he won me over. He did a great job bringing Pat to life and I *love* this character. Some big differences from the movie. Thumbs up!
Day 6 of the #tarottakeover is the Chariot card. It “signifies achieving victory, focusing intent and will, establishing an identity, self-confidence, and maintaining discipline.”
🏈 This made me think of Pat.
🏈 I took this picture during this year‘s Super Bowl. I rooted for the Eagles for Pat since I‘m a Broncos & Cardinals fan.
Thank you for hosting @ErinSueG & @WhiskeyMistress !
#AbbaInAugust I‘m such a #PhillyGirl that the moment I saw the word #Eagle I thought of our hometown Super Bowl champs 🏆🏈🦅❤️ and Bradley Cooper is a hometown boy who starred in this quirky but loveable tale of starting over and learning to live again. And there‘s some really fun #Eagle moments 🦅🏈💚 #TheLinc 🙌🏻 #FlyEaglesFlyOnTheRoadToVictory
Oh, Yes! I love this book! This is a touching and funny story! Love and friendship can be different! And everyone should believe in miracles! As for the movie - Bradley Cooper is super❤! #excelsior 💫🌠
Our visit to Half Price Books tonight yielded a handful of DVDs, a free "Get a Spine" sticker, and this rainbow, which was prettier in-person. Happy Book Lovers Day!
I have no strong feelings about this book one way or the other. It was just okay. I did love all of the literary references. The movie comes recommended by @loveroflit, so that is up next.

Thanks for the tag @Dragon my first #TuesdayTidbits
1. The tagged book was beautiful and the movie was fantastic 😍
2. Mostly Nay but I‘m ok when it‘s offered at a decent price🤑
3. I just read The Last Equation of Isaac Severy and thought it would make for a fun movie 🍿 But you would NEED a HOT cast to make people want to see the film 😉
4. I‘m tagging 2 new to me Littens...if you‘ve already played my apologies @MelissaSue81 @oh.opheliaaa

Another great reading month ❤️📚
My favorite was the book tagged here. I‘ll be seeking out more by Matthew Quick one of these days.
Wow! This was so much more than I expected.
Today, stories of broken people abound, & drag the reader into that spiral. This one gets you to cheer for decent people trying their best to get some happiness out of their shattered lives.
There‘s lots of humor in this story, none of it mean-spirited.
There‘s also lots of raw emotion, right in the midst of suburbia.
A solid book that gives you all the highs & lows in less than 300 pages.
