Cannot. Wait. To. Start. This!! I lived in NYC while attending NYU from 2000-2004, and spent many hours listening to these musicians, reading content from these bloggers, and going to shows on the LES. So many amazing memories!

Many books have been written using material found in archives and with the help of archivists, but I love when interactions (especially relatable ones) make it into the book! #archivistsoflitsy

Bad news is that I'm sick, but good news is that I not only have these to read, but there's a 90210 marathon on too! Donna Martin graduates!

I didn't love it, but it was better than so-so. Quick read, fast-paced with a lot of twists. The backwards storytelling was unique, but my only complaint is that as it unraveled, I felt like I was constantly trying to recall little details that I had overlooked due to the timeline

Reviewsbylola I bailed on this. I just couldn't get into it. I think my biggest problem had to do with the characters. I just didn't connect with them, which made it harder to follow the story. 8y

Powerful memoir documenting John Lewis' life during the Civil Rights Movement. Looking forward to reading the rest of the trilogy. Loved it and highly recommend!

Unfortunately this did not live up to the hype- it wasn't bad, just mostly boring and overwritten at times. Instead, I highly recommend the You Must Remember This podcast's series of episodes on Charles Manson.

Mayread Oh boy. I keep hearing this. If that's your take, then you should read James Wood's review. He does a breakdown of the language. 8y
art_vandelay Thanks for the suggestion. I usually don't have an issue when an author is verbose as long as it's done tastefully, but it just seemed like Cline was trying too hard. 8y
KerriArista Thx for the podcast recommendation! Looking forward to listening. 8y

Bailedbailed

It is really well written, and not difficult to read or follow, but it just felt monotonous and that it could be shorter. Bailed after 200 pages because I currently have so many other books I am more excited to read.

When your "to read" list is super long and you need the creation of a tv show adaptation to jumpstart your memory. The Amazon pilot was pretty good, so I'm not only hoping it gets picked up, but I'm also hoping the book (or audiobook in this case) is good.

This collection of short stories was a mixed bag for me. I am a fan of Oyeyemi's writing, but I found some of the stories to be uninteresting. The only thing that kept me from bailing was that some characters would briefly make appearances in multiple stories.
