wow. i enjoyed reading a book about someone who isn‘t just some rich white girl. this really put things into perspective for me. beyond the story, the cover is amazing! i do love some good cover art. but i do recommend this book if you are looking for a story with a happy ending and want to put things into perspective.

wow! i‘m not usually into books that are more fantasy ish, but i fell in love with this! interesting characters, distant lands, and creative plot points kept me reading. the drawings made the book ten times better as well. everyone of all ages would enjoy the phantom tollbooth, and i highly recommend!

i‘ve read all of the books in the series, and guts did not disappoint! the story went slightly backwards in time to fourth grade ish, and it was interesting to see what happened circa elementary school! if you enjoy raina telgemeier‘s other books, i would highly recommend guts.

Genesis Begins Again | Alicia D. Williams

i have no words. genesis begins again exposed me to so much more than i already new, and in a thoughtful way too. i‘ve been reading books on racism and other issues lately, and this is probably my top book on these issues. i highly recommend if you‘re looking to learn more about racism in a way that isn‘t as heart-breaking as other books because it‘s fictional.

interesting read, but there wasn‘t much of a plot. i wish there was a middle selection between “pick” and “so-so” because that‘s where this book stands for me. don‘t get me wrong, i love the characters and the concept, but this didn‘t carry it out in an way that had a strong plot. but for a fast read, it was pretty good. good read if you need something comforting.

for me, this has too much of an “i‘m not like other girls” theme and not enough of a theme of normalizing science and STEAM for younger girls. the story was pretty good, and made me have strong emotions - especially regarding the grandpa - but this felt too, well, almost stereotypical to me. otherwise a pretty good story.

there aren‘t many books i‘ve seen displayed about lgbtq+ kids, and i loved seeing representation. additionally, this was a great book! i loved reading about Zen and really understanding her thoughts and feeling from a third person pov. the story was intriguing and her aunties soon became some of my favorite characters. her friendships and issues made it super realistic. i really loved the book! amazing read. highly recommend.

woah. this book...really moved me. as you can see by the cover, this is a true story. i‘m both heartbroken and relieved by this story. this was able to be turned into a situation where the “criminal” learned a lesson and understands the reality of transgender people. i really enjoyed reading about it though - i always love books where i learn a lot. if you are interested in the lgbtq+ community, this is a book for you.

TrishB I really enjoyed this one 👍🏻 5y

after reading other books on racism and discrimination, i was really excited to read a story set in the seventies. the story was very well laid out, with inter-racial characters and plot twists that worked with the themes of the story. i connected with the characters through their silly problems and their larger ones. i really enjoyed reading The Long Ride, and it taught me a lot! highly recommend!

after reading the past two books in this chain of graphic novels, i was really excited to read Just Jaime, and i was not disappointed! i loved the split story between jaime and maya, with jaime being the main narrator of the story. i love seeing the characters from the different books interact and it‘s super cool to see them cross paths. if you enjoyed the past two books this is definitely a book i would recommend!

while the characters were interesting, it felt like there was not much of a plot. this book was recommended to me by many people and i had high hopes but this just didn‘t live up to my expectations. i would like to learn more about the specific characters and their lives in another book though, because i did like reading about the characters.

my heart is forever broken for everyone impacted by police brutality against african americans. this was a heavy read and the images assisted in the deep feeling involved in the book. while this was a sad read, it was also a moving and powerful read.

when i picked up More to the Story i had no idea this would end up being exactly what i needed in a book at the moment. as a writer myself, reading about a young aspiring reporter was very neat. the culture of the characters taught me more than what i previously knew, which i always love in a book. the story was intriguing when it took a turn, and i really enjoyed this book!

words can‘t even begin to describe how much i loved this book. the feminism in Watch Us Rise speaks to me on a much different level than other books i‘ve read before. the actions taken by chelsea and jasmine are so in check with my beliefs and i felt so inspired while reading this. the book also goes through real high school problems, which made the book feel more realistic. this might be my favorite book ever! everyone should read this.

i found posted while reading websites with highly recommended books, and while i thought this was a pretty good book, it didn‘t fully hit the spot for me. something about the way posted was written felt...different to me. i did think the book was good though, with relatable characters and a pretty good plot. it was a tough decision whether for this to be a pick or a so-so read, but i have deemed it a so-so read because of how the book made me feel

woohoo! first review of 2020! this was an amazing book. the plot was great, i loved mia and the other characters, and the book was just all around amazing! Front Desk shined a light on immigration in the usa and gave me a deeper understanding of my previous knowledge through a wonderful story. this was a great book and i will definitely read it again in the future!
