I loved this book!! I was ignorant of both artists, Man Ray and Lee Miller, who lived through exciting and tragic times. I was enthralled with the writing style, and she had me captivated from beginning to end. I was teary at the end. Every time I read a book that I love, I slow down so that the I can make the book last longer. A beautiful book that I highly recommend.

This was the choice from my book club (The Merry Makers Book Club). Some members felt it was too detailed, but I loved it. It brought back a lot of great memories. I had no idea that the fire took place. The book is more than just about the fire. It celebrates books and reading, with a few characters that keep libraries interesting. It was well written, and I enjoyed the stories, old and new, of other librarians throughout history.

This was a thrilling book. Trapped by a blizzard, the drama unfolds at a rest stop on a road in Colorado. I love books that have people stranded together as the plot is revealed. This is a book that you try to put down, but you say, “just one more chapter.” Well worth the loss of sleep!

I belong to the Merrymakers Book Club, and this was our most recent selection. I really enjoyed this book, and I was surprised that a novel about the Hindenburg could have such character development. It certainly is a fun read, and I found myself reading well into the night, which is my way of saying that I loved this book.

I came to enjoy this book very much. There were quite a bit of flash backs that had me wondering what time period I was reading at a given time. All of it was woven beautifully at the end of the book. If you started reading this book and put it down because of all the different times and people, pick it back up! You will be rewarded at the end.

A delightful read. A woman who sees saints and talks with them, many times funny and surprising dialogue. It presents stubborn and gruff Mr. Flood and Maud‘s care for him. Maud will not be scared away by his harsh words. In fact, she gives it right back. Great book with characters, such as Renata. I loved this book, and I highly recommend it.

Anthony Horowitz never disappoints. A great mystery read. Horowitz is also the creator of the BBC series Foyle‘s War. I recommend this book and his others, “The Magpie Murders” and The Word is Murder.”

I never read Anne Tyler before, but I am so happy that I discovered her. Her writing style is wonderful, and her characters are real characters! The end of the book has stayed with me; I‘m trying to figure it out. I look forward to diving into her other books.

To say I loved this book is an understatement. I grew up in Soldotna and Homer Alaska, and her book was so spot on, that I imagine she had lived in the area. Even though the background was beautiful, the story of abuse was difficult reading. It is a significant problem in Alaska, as well as alcohol and drug abuse. The book ended happily, but that seemed a little too perfect. I highly recommend this book, and I recommend visiting Alaska.

If you enjoy a good mystery, this is the book for you. Anthony Horowitz is a clever and entertaining author. This book was a great way to conclude my summer reading.

Hanging out in the 1000 Islands. Saw the play at the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and it was amusing to note the differences. The book is always better, of course!

What an absolutely beautiful book. The contrast between life in 1985/6 Chicago and 2015 Paris was wonderful. This is a book that leads from despair into hopefulness. I highly recommend this book.

See my review of Tattoos on the Heart. This book had more flow than his other book. This book was more thematic. Both are powerful books.

Firstly, I did like the book. The stories of the people Fr. Greg presents are heartbreaking and heartwarming. There are redemptive stories of those who live in the poorest area of Los Angeles and find success after so much heartbreak. The book is a collection of stories that stand alone. Homeboy and Homegirls Industry are the constant in each story. I‘m not sure if I am doing the book justice. A powerful book.

I enjoyed the book, even though it was a bit strange. If you read the book, let me know what you think of the “spreadsheet” and the AV neighbors. The main character development was great. A second summer read that was entertaining.

I enjoyed the book, but the ending was a bit unsatisfactory. I felt that the ending was geared towards a series in the future. Even so, it was a nice way to begin my summer reading.
