I am Rosa Parks | Brad Meltzer
post image

We're Canadian, but my son was curious about Rosa Parks and we found this cute book series. It details Rosa's famous incident and provides some historical context to the issues we continue to see today.

My youngest and I laughed so hard reading this book. The pictures are really delightful. Nancy Rose has amazing patience. I wouldn't have the patience waiting for the squirrels to show up to the "shoot".

Lindy I love this book too. ❤️ 8y
ebookclassics We're going to look for the sequel. I hope there's one. 8y

Do Not Say We Have Nothing | Madeleine Thien

Pickpick

This is literary fiction with a capital "L", but worth the effort it took me to read it. Fun fact: Madeleine Thien listened to Glenn Gould play the Goldberg Variations for 5-6 hours a day while writing this novel!

Brona I loved this too - trying to put together my thoughts for my review though. I also listened to Gould's variations as I read the book (not every session, just a few.) it was a good thing to do. 8y

brbamreading Just got my copy of DNSWHN. Really can't wait to read it! 8y
ebookclassics @brbamreading How do you like the book? 8y
brbamreading @ebookclassics I've been busying with uni's stuffs, but I did manage to finish the first chapter. And so far the writing is rather eloquent. I got the sense of foreboding that this is going to be a heartbreaking book. 8y
ebookclassics It's true, the book is quite moody. When I think about it, I think this kind of story is meant to be read slowly. 8y

Took so long for me to understand this story, but now I finally get what the protagonist is going through.

Inferno: A Novel | Dan Brown
post image

The Robert Langdon series is a guilty pleasure of mine. I'm reading Inferno ahead of the movie release. Tom Hanks said playing Langdon is like playing Sherlock Holmes:

"... As a selfish actor, I don't mind playing the smartest guy in the room. I don't get to play the toughest guy, I don't get to play the best-looking or ... the tallest, but I do get to play the smartest guy in the room as Robert Langdon."

Love him! Who's excited for the movie?

Imlostinbooks I have not read the books but I watched the first film because I love both Tom Hanks and Audrey Tautou and I was like DUDE Catholic conspiracies rock lol 8y
ebookclassics Ha ha ... Dan Brown definitely loves a good conspiracy. The Da Vinci Code is on Netflix and I was thinking about rewatching the movie. 8y

Pickpick

An elegantly balanced novel is how I would describe The Light Between Oceans, as it driven both by plot and the characters who find themselves tangled up in an impossible situation. The moral dilemma they face is all the more tragic because there is NO good answer, all choices lead to tragedy and that‘s what makes this book so heartbreaking.
