His house was not very zippy or cool, but it was very safe.
His house was not very zippy or cool, but it was very safe.
This would be fun to do retelling with. Also, comparing and contrasting different adaptations.
Another adaptation of the three little pigs story. This version takes a fun spin on the traditional story. Taking place in outer space, three little aliens go on their way to find a planet of their own. It holds onto the themes and similarities of the original story.
They offered him tea and strawberries and wolfberries, and asked him to stay with them as long as he wished
This is a funny and different version of the story. It would be good to use when exploring different fairytales.
This version of the traditional story totally flips the characters around. In this version the pig is the villain. The wolves go out on their own and make their different houses which the pig destroys. Eventually they make a house that pig enjoys, and they become friends.
I love the illustrations in this book. The way they depict winter and the different animals is so chilly and cozy at the same time.
A little boy has his grandmother make him white mittens. She warned her grandson that he may loose them in the snow. He goes out to play and drops the mitten in the snow. Different animals come along and find comfort and warmth in the mitten.
If cheeseburgers were cute, folks would probably think you were big and bad too
Having different variations of a story is fun. It is also important to children to see how literature can change and adapt.
A different take on the classic story. This story is told from the perspective of the wolf. The wild tells his perspective and says this is the true story. Wolf was making a cake for grandmother, and needed a cups of sugar.
The lilacs bent their boughs down to the water before him and the bright sun was warm and cheering
This is an important message that we shouldn‘t judge a book by its cover. It is also important for children to know it is okay to be different and you are still important.
A mother duck lays her eggs and notices that one of her eggs looks different than the others, but she treats it just the same. All of the other ducklings hatch, and the largest egg hatches last. When the duck hatches, it comes out looking different than the others. As they go towards the water, other ducks make comments about the different duckling.
Fortunately the lion was feeling generous so he let the mouse escape from him
I love Aesop fables because they teach important themes in ways that children have to determine it on their own.
Mouse and Lion tells a story about kindness and how showing someone grace and kindness can help you in the future. Lion let mouse free, and later Mouse came and helped to set Lion free to get away from the poachers.
Like the Gitxsan people, the ravens look after one another and help each other raise their young.
This book could start a study on different Indigenous people‘s, which is something important for us all to learn about.
A book about ravens and their importance in the ecosystem and the food chain. It connects ravens and their importance to the Gitxsan People in British Columbia. It gives facts about ravens as well as information about ecology and ecosystems.

On some nights, billions of dinoflagellates can cause the ocean to sparkle with each wave.
This book is so cool and I think would be excellent for a science class or anytime to teach children about a very fascinating phenomena.
An eye catching black cover and pages filled with illustrations that stick out on the page. This book dives into the science of bioluminescence. It tells of different creatures who use bioluminescence and how it helps them to survive.
When days grow short, flowers fade and colors crumple to the ground…all the hiders hide.
I like that there is a more traditional children‘s book story going on, with facts included in the circles throughout.
A nonfiction book about how animals adapt in the winter. A story is told about how animals begin to adapt and change during the winter time. The illustrations truly encapsulate the Earth and it‘s different features, animals and more. Throughout the book it gives different facts about the different animals.
Feet, what do I need them for when so have wings to fly?

She worked on a US military base in Tokyo, Japan. She wrote about the experiences of black soldiers. Eventually she was writing at the White House.
I feel very strongly towards this book because this is something that I know I struggle with, and I love the way it said to catch all these happy and true and calm thoughts. You could do a fun activity with students to create balloons of happy thoughts they can catch if they have a bad thought.
I grabbed onto thoughts that were HOPEFUL and gathered up thoughts that were LOVELY
This book brings light to something that can often plague a lot of people, intrusive or unwanted thoughts. It shows the way it can feel overwhelming and horrible that it won‘t go away. It shows how you can learn to catch new thoughts. You can catch beautiful and hopeful thoughts.
They came home covered in color
Crayola Crayons are very relevant to elementary students. This is a fun biography to share that shows where crayons came from!
This biography is about the inventor of Crayola Crayons. Edwin Binney wanted to change the way that children could write and color. At first he only made grey, white and black, but eventually he found the secret to creating his colored crayons. This is a good story about having and idea and sticking with it, even when it may be hard and you don‘t succeed right away.
Josephine sat on Mama‘s knee and sponged up that funky music through her ears, her body. Her SOUL.

My fourth graders watched a book trailer for this and were instantly intrigued. Many of them have read it already and are sharing the book with each other.
A story of two brothers who were separated from their mother during the war in Somalia. They are living in a refugee camp. The novel goes through their time in the refugee camp as they grow and have to make decisions.
I love children‘s books that teach about different cultures and their values and traditions. I especially love books that focus on the importance of Earth and peoples connection to it
