By far one of the coolest #audiobooks I've ever listened to! Innovative format, awesome production. Reminded me of a YA Battlestar Galactica.

I sat in my car in the parking lot at work until I finished listening to this one, and sobbed through the ending. My school custodian offered me a hug when I finally made it inside, and I had to explain that I had just finished a really, really good book. That should tell you everything you need to know.

There are lots of things to love about this book, but Genie's notebook full of questions might be my favorite. ⭐️

As Brave As You | Jason Reynolds

"Birds burst from every broken window in the house like dark smoke, others tornadoed up through the roof. First they were all separated, exploding into different directions, but then they swooped back toward each other, like family, and became one big black wave, twisting and sweeping up through the trees around them. The sound of wings, like a giant deck of cards being shuffled, filled the air."

Heartbreaking, inspiring, and entertaining. So glad Diane Guerrero shared her story; no child should have to go through this. Important reading--especially in an election year!

"When the authorities made the choice to detain my parents, no one bothered to check that a young girl, a minor, a citizen of this country, would be left without a family. Without a home. Without a way to move forward. ... In the eyes of the ICE, it was as if I didn't exist. I'd been invisible to them."

John Lewis is a hero and this series should be required reading for everyone. Can't wait to get my hands on book three.

Love this smart, funny, action-packed graphic novel series from Judd Winnick. Look for the third book in the series, THE GREAT BIG BOOM, in February! #bookaday

I've been reading a bunch of Newbery winners for a class I'm taking & I'm starting a new one this afternoon. I think Buster likes the blanket more than he likes the book...

And with this one, Dan Gemeinhart is two-for-two at making me cry. With a strong thread of family & friendship, this MG Western adventure is an all-around win. Loved Andrew Eiden's narration.

I'm way late to the party on this one, and kicking myself for waiting so long to read it. An important book that totally lives up to its well-deserved reputation.

Listening to this one on audio. The Civil War espionage is cool and all, but what I'm really interested in is Kate Warne, the first female detective in the U.S. Must learn more about her!
