I have never read a crime fiction as grounded as this with the pace and tone of the narrative as close to realism. #mystery #crimefiction

Squid Game is the modern retelling of Agatha Christie‘s And Then There Were None, and you cannot convince me otherwise. The psychology in choosing the players, the island setting, the children‘s games, and the 001 ‘character twist‘ are too many to be coincidental!
It‘s a very decent retelling though I just prefer a darker cinematic look.
Less gave me a lot of positive feelings! It is worth noting that the pop music and literature references are on point!
I read Never Let Me Go as slowly as I can to savor Ishiguro‘s craftsmanship in writing. I particularly love Ishiguro‘s style of narration, which is full of foreboding and dread that only the readers feel and the characters are fully unaware.
Never Let Me Go is Kath‘s art masterpiece. It presents her humanity as equally as ours. And it carefully, painfully, and heartbreakingly put into perspective the moral complexity associated with cloning.
One of the most impactful comparisons I‘ve gotten from The Last Letter From Your Lover was that J, in 1960, was always willing to get out of her loveless marriage despite being shunned by friends, not having money of her own, and losing her memory. While Ellie, in 2003, poured her energy and emotions in an affair, which headed obviously nowhere, armed with the ability of taking care of herself financially.
