While I was reading - or really skimming - this book, my thought was that if you (a) knew someone who had hiked the trail and (b) had ever backpacked, then this book really offered you nothing. However, the next day I found my self researching backpacks and hiking sandals and planning how I could make it work. And I have no plans to hike this trail any time in the near future! So it was an inspiring read!

This book was meant to be funny but it's the type of humor that I enjoy more in a movie than in a book. Lots of absurd happenings. Lots of characters introduced but not too deeply. Not too much of a plot. But it was interesting and entertaining for a Sunday read!

The Hula Hoop, miniature golf, the twist. All fads have a low ability threshold. That's why you never see speed chess becoming a fad. Or fencing.

I bought this book 3.5 years ago. I tried reading it multiple times. I tried again after reading Becky Chamber's book where a ship is also transferred to a human body, and it was easier for me to read. The first 80% of the book was still really slow reading. But I really liked the last 20%!

SW-T Sometimes it‘s all about timing. A book could be good but you have to be in the right mindset for it or it just won‘t work. I had to attempt one multiple times and then ended up really liking it. 5y

This book was a super easy, fast and fun read. Especially for a nonfiction book!

This was a very biased, honest look at cultures and a very good explanation of the global financial crises. I learned a lot in a very entertaining way.

This book is fascinating but it's really hard to listen to. The author keeps it very factual so there's a tons of names and agencies.

The book is about how China and other countries are using electronic espionage on US companies and the government and we are not organized in a way to easily fight or defend against it. The reality is rather horrifying and very interesting. But it was very hard to listen to this book to for any length of time.

A scifi book about astronauts who go out to explore new worlds knowing that time on earth will pass much more quickly than their subjective time. So they must leave everyone they love.

The book was good and thought provoking but not as good as the Wayfarers series. Well, I don't know if it wasn't as good as much as it wasn't the same type of scifi which was disappointing to me. I really liked the end but I won't spoil it for you!

The Appalachian borderlanders believed in individuals over government. Supposedly they sharpened their nails and heated them over candles in order to fight better - to dig out people's eyes better!

The guilt lingered, even so. Ghosts were imaginary, but hauntings were real.

I was so excited to find a good space opera series that deals with cultures in space and alien cultures!

BookmarkTavern Welcome to Litsy! I highly recommend the whole series! ❤️ 5y
mtnreader Thanks! If you recommend any other similar series, that would be awesome too. The authors I love that seem similar are Lois McMaster Bujold and Robert Heinlein. (edited) 5y
