The Hush | Skye Melki-Wegner

Pickpick

The Hush is where music and magic meets. The world is built on a Song, and the magicians who wield the magic use Music to control it. Susanna and her gang have vendetta against the Musicians.

The world building was fantastic and the story fast paced and thrilling. Skye Melki-Wegner did a wonderful job pulling readers into her world.

The Handmaid's Tale | Margaret Atwood

Pickpick

I might be in the minority here, but a lot of times I found myself wondering whether the book would be better with Ofglen as the protagonist, as opposed to Offred - who I found to be somewhat passive.

This is more a societal view in a skewed patriarchy, than a hero's journey. It's unique in the open-endedness when compared to other books in this genre. Still, I found it quite thought provoking.

Soulless | Gail Carriger

Pickpick

When reading this book, the first thing you should know is that it's comedic, then it's romantic. Secondly, it's set in a steampunk world, but there isn't a lot of talk about the technology in that world. Third, there are werewolves, and vampires, and a mystery.

Keeping this in mind, I found Soulless tobe rather enjoyable.
