Doctor Who: The Resurrection Casket | Justin Richards
5 posts | 12 read | 2 to read
Starfall - a world on the edge, where crooks and smugglers hide in the gloomy shadows and modern technology refuses to work. And that includes the TARDIS. The pioneers who used to be drawn by the hope of making a fortune from the mines can find easier picking elsewhere. But they still come for the romance of it, or old-fashioned organic mining. Or in the hope of finding the lost treasure of Hamlek Glint - scourge of the spaceways, privateer, adventurer, bandit. Will the TARDIS ever work again? Is Glint's lost treasure waiting to be found? And does the fabled Resurrection Casket, the key to eternal life, really exist? With the help of new friends, and to the horror of new enemies, the Doctor and Rose aim to find out. Featuring the Tenth Doctor and Rose as played by David Tennant and Billie Piper in the acclaimed Doctor Who series from BBC Television.

This was sort of a riff on Treasure Island with aliens and monsters. Fast and fun, but not one of my favorites. 3.5 stars ☠

I snagged the last 4 tens that I needed to finish my set off Thriftbooks. Unlike the last one I got from them, none of these have bites taken out of them. 😁

Traci1 @K.Wielechowski lol, I can totally hear him saying that. 3y
Laughterhp Are the books good? I think I‘ve only read 1 or 2 doctor who books. Ten is my favorite doctor 3y
Traci1 @Laughterhp I really love most of them. Having different authors, some of them are less good. Usually because they don't get the characters just right rather than story issues. Ten is my favorite too (with Donna, especially), with Nine and Rose a close second. The good thing about them is they don't need to be read in order, so you can pick any of them. 3y

I read this as an abridged audiobook about 10 years ago. Reading it in print now, I had no recollection of the plot. So obviously not a memorable book. Too bad, because pirates and David Tennant would normally be a good combo.

Eh. It was okay. Bumped up half a star because David Tennant. 😉 ⭐⭐⭐/⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

And with that, August comes to a close! Can't wait to add up my totals!

TheWordJar I've actually never seen a Dr. Who, but I love him in Broadchurch! I think I'd listen to him read the phone book! 7y
mom2bugnbee @TheWordJar Totally with you, which is exactly why I started listening to these. He also narrates the How to Tame Your Dragon book series, which are a lot of fun. In Dr. Who, he uses an English accent rather than his native Scottish, but it's still wonderful. The dragon books are amazing because he does all of the character voices. Highly recommend, even if you don't have kids! ☺ 7y
mom2bugnbee @TheWordJar And Broadchurch is amazing. I haven't started the 3rd season yet, but the first two were outstanding. 7y
