A concept reminiscent of existential therapy; death, meaning, isolation, and freedom, with prose that dives between the dissonance of reality and unreality and that heady sense that the past is the future, Klune explores the philosophical/scientific debate of nature vs. nurture with an evocative twist, thus inbuing the story in subtext; memory, introspection, testimony, and reason while balancing the social benefits of knowledge vs. autonomy.

This is my third TJ Klune and I‘m obsessed. I‘ve loved every book I‘ve read so far and can‘t wait to read more. This was completely not what I expected, and unlike anything I‘ve read before, in the best way possible. Like if Recursion and The Host had a love child it would be this book.🤯 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #jubilantjuly @Andrew65

Andrew65 Fantastic 👏👏👏 2y
Dragon Okay I loved The Host and Recursion- stacking! 💚🐉 2y

Mind blown! Never before have I experienced such an evocative, hallucinatory, mind-altering literacy journey in my entire life. This book possessed such a profundity that couldn‘t help but question my own reality. Submerging myself into the almost sickening complexities of this book is something I'll never forget. From the get-go, there's an underlying unease about Amorea, because something can't possibly be THAT perfect without a catch! Bizarre!

#NewYearWhoDis - had time for one more!

Just wow, this book! It was probably my unexpected favorite out of everything I read. Hard to review without spoilers...

I don‘t normally read books this romance heavy, but I loved the quietly mysterious atmosphere with the “Black Mirror” vibes. And it‘s an absolute sucker punch to the emotions.

I don‘t know how @Mandigolightly and I are the only ones who have posted about this book on Litsy!?

Mandigolightly The Black Mirror vibe is exactly what I loved about this one! 6y
Mandigolightly I didn‘t get to as many of yours as I wanted (just three) but I‘m gonna keep going until I‘ve hit them all! 6y
Bookish_AF @Mandigolightly No worries, I hope you enjoy some others no matter when you get to them! 😊 I think it helped I had an early start on 1 or 2 due to library availability and Binti was short 😜 6y
Slajaunie Added! You make it sound irresistible! 6y
monalyisha Hmmm... I‘m definitely intrigued! Thanks for playing along with us this month! 🎉 6y

Not pictured:
3 jobs (one new)
2 broken nooks
1 kid back to school

GingerAntics Two broken nooks? How on earth did you end up with that bad luck? 6y
Mandigolightly @GingerAntics the first one? I‘d had for a year, so fair enough. The 2nd one started to glitch our hard after two weeks. 😭😭😭 6y
GingerAntics That‘s frustrating. Reading technology should always work. The need to read is strong. lol I hope everything is sorted now. 6y
Mandigolightly @GingerAntics fortunately, I got the warranty, so it was just a swap 6y
GingerAntics Oh, I never get the warranty so it‘s always fighting to get them to fix it. That makes sense now. Next time I need to get the warranty. That makes far more sense. 6y
