Starting off the new year with this pair of thrillers!
I like Lisa Jewell but I have only read a handful of her books. A friend of mine is a big fan and gifted me these two as she knew I hadn‘t read them yet.

Been on my shelf for a while, long overdue to finally read this one!

What book nerds do while sitting in the lawn seats waiting for the Backstreet Boys concert
It‘s been far too long since I‘ve posted on here!
Getting in a little book club reading on the porch before the storms roll in ✒️☕️
Definitely laughed when I opened up this book package. One is our book club read, the other is a bonus from @magyklyXdelish 🤎… You decide which is which 😅
Gotta catch up on some #NewYearWhoDis reviews! I‘ll start here.
What did I just read?? THAT ENDING 😨
In fact, I mostly had a shocked look on my face through the whole thing. Not overly long, but this is not for the faint of heart and it‘s bleak. Crazy, disturbing, and horrifying, yet it is still a thought provoking book. Pretty sure I won‘t want to reread it though!
I braved the cold (“feels like -18”) to go down to the post office…and it was worth it as now I have my book club book in hand for the long weekend!
We may have a snowstorm coming tomorrow as well, but now I am completely prepared to not leave the house again.
#NewYearWhoDis
When the Goodreads summary said “for fans of Succession and the White Lotus”…yup, sign me up! This is a coming of age story of a character with humble beginnings finding himself in a world of extreme wealth and privilege. It displays the contrast between his old life and his new one in a way that is very apparent (and at times uncomfortable) to the reader but to which our narrator is largely ignorant of himself. Enjoyed this one!
This was so delightful to open as it turns out we have more in common than just our book taste- basically everything (🐱🧦🍫 🕯 🛁)- I love it all! The journal is SO pretty and I can‘t wait to use it and I definitely will (I love this brands stationery too!) These books were both on my radar but I haven‘t read either yet!! Thank you for helping to kick of 2022 in the best way!
#bestof2021
It‘s almost time for #NewYearWhoDis 2022 and I‘ve finally sat down and made my TBR! I usually go with a TBR of about 5 from the list I received as the goal for January...and then see what happens! The NYPL will be supplying at least of 3 these (via Kindle) and I can‘t wait to get started 😊
My list this year is courtesy of @TheLibrarian 📚📖💙
It‘s a snowy Saturday and I‘ve got wrapping to do… which means I‘ll just be over here procrastinating with some book clubbing
@Lauranahe @babyruth2510 @magyklyXdelish
Some Litsy mail today!
A card from @babyruth2510 - thank you, what a fun surprise!!
And my #bestof2021 from @Mynameisacolour is here too! It has been stashed away to avoid temptation 😅
Best way to start the day!
Lots of mail went out today:
@Lauranahe I mailed your December book out finally!
#jolabokaflod package sent- luckily it‘s not going too far this year 😄
@Mynameisacolour Mailed your #Bestof2021swap package too!
Looks like I‘ve got an emotional day planned as I will be reading this and endlessly streaming Red (Taylor‘s Version). Perfect for a rainy and quintessentially fall day in upstate NY. 🍁🧣 Send help!
Had to wait about a month and half for my library hold on this one to become available, but in the end it was pretty good timing!
I haven‘t posted on Litsy in a hot minute, but here‘s some goodies from an #indiebookstore trip!
@Nerdfins and I took a road trip yesterday to visit the Book Village in Hobart, NY with a bonus trip to the Green Toad bookstore in Oneonta. Lots of scenic driving, books, goodies, and a couple dogs hanging out in the shops! 📖📚🍁🍂
Trying to get some porch reading in before it gets unreasonably hot.
Book was on sale on Kindle yesterday which was a perfect excuse to grab it for a reread since I don‘t currently have a copy. I first read it a loooong time ago.
Yes, that‘s an Ian Malcolm Funko.
Both my #LMPBC books for June arrived today! And never fear @Lauranahe and @EadieB , I mailed your next books off to you both today as well.
There‘s a relatively short window of perfect outdoor reading weather at this time of year before the humidity starts setting in. This weekend is going to have such weather (70 and sunny). I hope to be doing this a LOT, despite the yellow cloud of pollen everywhere 😂
#LMPBC
Last time I checked on this hold a few days ago, the wait time was over 6 months. Today I get a notification that it‘s ready to borrow 🎉🎉🎉
Looks like the NYPL must have obtained a few more copies!!
My May #LMPBC books have arrived! Cant wait to get started, I‘ve been looking forward to both of these.
Day off of work....in which I went on a drive to sit at the Mini dealership while the car gets serviced.
But not working means extra reading, no matter where I am!
Perfect time to start Outlander 4. I‘m committed now. My Kindle informed me that the “typical time to read” is 27 hours. Challenge accepted!
I never leave the dust jackets on hardcover books while I‘m reading them, but I‘m not sure how I feel about THIS staring at me all the time from coffee tables and night stands 😂
I really liked this one! A fun and twisty thriller with 3 narrators (two named, one unnamed) that kept me guessing through the whole book. It definitely had some...darker...elements that I wasn‘t expecting.
Also, the MC drives a Mini Cooper and listens to Taylor Swift! And it‘s well known how much I adore my Mini Cooper and Taylor Swift 😅
@Lauranahe I mailed this on Thursday, should arrive by Monday!
I would say between a pick and a so-so! I liked this book but didn‘t love it. Really enjoyed some aspects and others I wasn‘t so sure. Very cool setting. I won‘t say too much since it‘s for #LMPBC but I can‘t wait to hear all your thoughts!
@EadieB I mailed this out on Thursday, and it should arrive to you on Monday!
This book has been on my TBR for some time so I was pretty excited it showed up as a Kindle deal! 😄😇
Really loved this book!
Part survival story and part old-timey courtroom drama, this story centers around an all female expedition to the Arctic to search for John Franklin‘s lost expedition...and the aftermath when they don‘t all come back.
I find the historical events that make up the backdrop of this story fascinating (although liberties are taken here) and always enjoy women defying the expectations of their time.
Day 2 post covid vaccine- stayed home from work again but luckily the worst is over and I‘m actually able to do some reading today!
Plus I got a sticker!! I did not know there would be stickers. Worth it 😊
I have a little time to kill before my appointment for the 2nd COVID vaccine...and I really hate needles 😬
Good thing my dearest friend, the Kindle, is always with me!
I‘ve got my book, pen, and coffee at the ready! Time to get started on #LMPBC!
The wacky looking pen is courtesy of my cousin. It‘s a “left handed” pen 😅
@magyklyXdelish @MaleficentBookDragon @EadieB
What. The. Actual. Fuck.
Ok, I‘m off to binge watch the Netflix series now!
Picked up a package from the post office today which had my #LMPBC book from last round as well as this extra book from my TBR that @magyklyXdelish sent along with it!!
Thank you so much! I am very excited to read this. You know how much I like thrillers! 💙
Next up is these three: thrillers galore!
I wanted to read Behind Her Eyes before watching the Netflix series and my library hold just came in today.
The two hardcovers are for book clubbing!
I was just browsing around on HBO Max and THIS SHOWED UP. This is an HBO series now?!! I didn‘t know! How did I not know???
I recently discovered I love snowshoeing! I live in the middle of the woods in lake effect snow country, so we do not lack snow or places to go.
My plans every weekend now consist of snowshoeing and then returning inside to curl up with books (tagged is the current Kindle read). Both activities prove to be quite therapeutic!
I know my love of winter makes me extremely weird ❄️📖
I neglected to mention at the beginning of the round that I had read this book before 🙈 but it‘s such a crazy book and thought it would be fun to read it again with you guys! And I got the added bonus of getting it last.
I loved reading this “along” with all of you! Just as crazy as I remember, and you all definitely made me see the ending in a different light 🤔!!
#LMPBC
Hello #LMPBC Group W! My TBR is full of books that I think would fit the bill since horror/thriller is my favorite genre 😅 Here are a few! Let me know what you think or if you‘ve read any of these before.
This little electronics stand thingy I have sure makes it convenient to read my Kindle in bed!
“I was again disappointed on discovering that the labs weren‘t full of nifty chrome and cool blue and pink lighting. Total letdown.”
Oh man this made me laugh. Can confirm this is true. We are not cool. At.All. 👩🏼🔬🧬😅
I was intrigued by the premise of this! Lots of commentary about rape culture. Since I analyze a lot of sexual assault kits, I can confirm that it‘s rare for cases like this to go to trial, for many of the reasons brought up in the book. It‘s always interesting for me to read stories that are adjacent to what I do in real life.
Also really enjoyed the alternating format with the podcast episodes thrown in the mix.
#NewYearWhoDis
I am a Riley Sager fan and love haunted house stories so it‘s no surprise I liked this!
Maggie doesn‘t remember much about living in a haunted house, but her whole life was shaped by “the Book” that her father wrote about their time there.
And yes, you get to read “the Book” (as this is a book within a book) while Maggie tries to understand what really happened.
So glad this got chosen for #LMPBC and it was also on my #NewYearWhoDis list!
