Pickpick

Slan are genetic mutations, superior in strength and endurance, plus they can read minds. Humans of course fear them and want to exterminate them. It's a short, simple story, but well told if not a bit overloaded with pseudoscience and some questionable psychology. 3 🧠🧠🧠 1/2

Mehso-so

Jommy Cross is a slan, a telepathic mutant. Slans are considered a threat by ordinary humans and are exterminated wherever they are found. Jommy's late father invented a weapon which may help the slans and now it is up to Jommy to find it and help his people.

I loved A. E. Van Vogt's work as a teen, though I don't remember having read this one before. But now although I kept reading, I just wasn't much interested in any of it.

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description or reason for wanting to read the book. Some are old and some will be new. Don't judge me - I have a lot of books.

Finally reading Slan by A.E. van Vogt and loving it so far!

LisaMorr I read that this year too and loved it! What made you pick it up and read it now? 6y
SpaceCowboyBooks @LisaMorr I recently gave a lecture on the history of Pulp Fiction and realized that this book was a gap in my knowledge, had been meaning to read van Vogt for a while. I'm dedicating most of this year to reading authors I haven't read yet. 6y
