Starting this now. I need a pallet cleanser and honestly I loved Cordova‘s writing in Labrynth Lost. Hoping to love this!
This would be a nice read for any mid to older teen. Even as an adult, I enjoyed it. The hero does some nice character development, not too fast or too slow. The world building is excellent. The plot is a tiny bit predictable, but enjoyable nonetheless.
Merfolk and a leftover part of a maple bacon doughnut (cos it's so sinful I could only eat a bit at a time!!)
This is today.
This is a "my 6yo woke up sick but my 4yo was his bouncy usual self so I had to keep those two apart while making sure one was fed and changed and ready for preschool and the other stayed in bed and got his rest" kind of morning.
Yes I realize my chocolate chip cookie is larger than my mug of coffee.
This is a fun book about a teenager who finds out he is the sea king's grandson & heir. Tristan is brash & funny & sounds like an authentic teenager caught up in a fairy tale world he didn't ask for. At times the story is a bit soapy, a testimonial to how well Cordova intertwines teen drama & her world of undersea fey. I've read a lot of heartbreakers lately & I love them, but this is a good palate cleanser when you just want fun.
In between being depressed/inspired/pensive about civil rights I'm reading about evil mermaids. Because sometimes you really need heroic sharks and merman bros in your life.
This book was amazing. Deserves so much love from the Fantasy community. Character development was kind of sudden, but needed. Tons of plot twists I didn't expect at all. Love this book!
