Finished this little book last night. I enjoyed reading about different stories from my ancestral home.
Finished this little book last night. I enjoyed reading about different stories from my ancestral home.
For as many fairy tales I‘ve read I was only familiar with one of these stories prior to reading this book. These folklore stories are from the British Isles and I was absolutely delighted with them. I really enjoyed ‘The Fairies‘ Mist-Gate‘ and finally read ‘Tam-lin‘. A lovely collection with illustrations by one of my favorites, Arthur Rackham.
And now for a #blamelitsy post...
1. I blame ALL of you for introducing me to book outlet and book depository. Sure, #summersantagoespostal shopping was easier... but it's also greatly increased my own tbr pile
2. I blame a majority of you for ACOTAR - I've seen so many posts about it lately that when I dropped off my book donations yesterday and saw it on the shelf I had to have it (cost $0.50!)
3. @I-read-and-eat for lovely Kerven books 😍
Thanks to the illustrations and quotes I posted yesterday I am now rereading these beautiful fairy stories! I don't have much winter books but to me fairy and folk tales are #chillyreads they go so well with cold weather and candle light 😊

'Fair woman, will you go with me to a wonderful land where music is? Sweet mild streams flow through the land, choise of mead and wine;'
From: Edain and Midhir, based upon my favourite Old Irish tale Tochmarc Etaine (The wooing of Etain) This might be my favourite illustration, the detail and the serene choise of colour is stunning.
Two of my favourite fairy story collections. Kerven has a great way of retelling folktales and the illustrations are amazing! I always re-read these in the fall.
Also, some praise for Rosalind Kerven who actually helped me write an essay on one of her stories. She was so sweet and helpful!
