I finally finished @WeeziesBooks's pick for #readersgonnaread (it will mail out Monday!) so sat down and read the comments for my pick. Thankfully, my copy was found and made it's way home to me, along with the original journal. I ripped out the pages from the replacement and taped them into the 1st. I admit, I partly choose this book because I knew it was polarizing. The reactions didn't disappoint. Some loved it, some were so-so. ⬇️
pickThis book is a perfect example of why I love postal book clubs. I had never heard of it, probably never would have picked it up, and was not drawn in by this cover at all... but I ended up loving Debbie‘s pick for #ReadersGonnaRead.
Not a perfect book, but still very good. I love a well-done fairytale retelling, and this one is cleverly weaved in with a story from the early 80s onset of the AIDS epidemic. Heartbreakingly beautiful.❤️
