The story was very sweet. It's the first book in the series. It introduces the reader to a hidden world and the beginning of an innocent love triangle. I enjoyed reading about Laurel and watching her learn about her origin and secrets that her home hides. I'm glad my friends recommend it to me. I would recommend it to anyone.

Daughter_of_Opulence @HeatherBlue It's Elusion by Claudia Gabe and Cheryl Klam. It is. It's actually the first book of its series. This is the FIRST time I've found the first book of a series. Usually I find the second, third or fourth. 6y
HeatherBlue @Daughter_of_Opulence That sounds really good! Thanks!! ❤️ 6y

New book! I'm starting the Wings Series. I don't know much about it only that my friends read it in high school and loved it. Let's see how it goes~
Thoughts? Opinions? Have you read it?

You had to kill the mood didn't you Z? You couldn't be satisfied with just saying "I'm not that kind of girl. I don't usually make out like this"
You HAD to add "like a slut"
What is your deal Cast? ?
Royal cat judges you.

So one thing is a typo and another thing is a fail in translation.
'No me gusta lavantar el gato.'
1. Isn't "I don't like to wash the cat"
2. Isn't written correctly
It could be 'No me gusta levantar el gato' , which mean "I don't like to wake up the cat".
This caught me completely off guard. What kinda Spanish teacher is this? I asked google but it couldn't help me~

I'm not fully enjoying this but I'm not dreading reading it. I want to keep going but I don't feel captured and completely entertained. I feel for Z sometimes and other times her blabbing is unnecessary. I find her being immature and I don't think it's because I'm older. And it has been conformed. A lot of slut - shaming and girl hating. Why can't get just get along?
Regardless, it doesn't feel like a DNF so I shall continue.

Quick Blur moment. I'm not sure if I mentioned it before but I have tried to read Marked many years back when I ha was in high school after my friend begged me to start the series. I remember I got to this part and my reaction was the following:
"Oh its that kind of book. Hehehhe... nope. Nope nope. Not at this moment. Not taday~"

And here we are again. Blow-job scene.
#marked #houseofnight #ch7

Booksblanketsandahotbeverage Yeah, I read the first and I think second book after I read through Twilight and Vampire Academy and thought what is this?!?! This is young adult? 😵 6y
Daughter_of_Opulence @BookHoarder32 I had read Vampire Academy before this book and loved the series. I don't remember anything similar to this scene. 😂 It has been years tho so I don't remember much if VA. I've never read Twilight. I'm adding it to my TBR this year (mostly because of my friends). A few people have told me that Blowjobs will appear a lot. Teenagers and Hormones ? 😂 6y
Booksblanketsandahotbeverage @Daughter_of_Opulence nothing close to what goes on in Marked, and the HON series was in Twilight or VA. (I too loved the VA series) some characters had sex but it was handled better - not so explicit? 🤔 6y
See All 8 Comments
Booksblanketsandahotbeverage Have you read the spinoff VA Bloodlines series? I have them all, but haven't gotten back around to them. 6y
Daughter_of_Opulence @BookHoarder32 Ahhh and so my journey begins into the House of Night. I've only seen the Twilight movies so I know that it's in the last book where they have sex but it's good to know for the future that it's handled better. I'm going to reread VA this year. 6y
Daughter_of_Opulence @BookHoarder32 I have not but I do have the first book. I've been putting it off since I learned of it because I know it's focus is on different characters and I fell in love with Dimitri and Rose. After I finish VA I'll start with Bloodlines. 6y
Booksblanketsandahotbeverage Awesome! Yes! Dimitri 4-ever LOL ❤️ 6y

So your girl stopped by at the dollar store and bought books. Again. My only issue is everytime I go I never find the first book of the series. It's ALWAYS the second or third.
And that, as always, didn't stop your girl from buying. Thus will be added to my tbr list and now I'm off to hunt the first books.

LibrarianRyan I have that same problem. I put them on a special shelf and try to fill in from Bookoutlet when I can. 6y
Daughter_of_Opulence @LibrarianRyan I'm currently searching on Thriftbooks for them. I'll check on Bookoutlet too. 👍 6y

Daughter_of_Opulence @LibrarianRyan I found that one on thrift book. The Night Owl is the one thats not in stock at the moment. I'm going to check on Bookoutlet and see if it's there. 6y

From Hesiod's poem to Nyx, the Greek personification of night:
"There also stands the gloomy house of Night; ghastly clouds shroud it in darkness. Before it Atlas stands erect and on his head and unwearying arms girly supports the broad sky, where Night and Day cross a bronze threshold and then come close and greet each other" (Hesiod, Theogony, 744ff.)

"And she laughed."

I have finished THE BEAST IS AN ANIMAL by Peternelle Van Arsdale.
This book was very odd but interesting. The story flows and connects well. The main character weren't annoying in any way. It has a little bit of romance but it doesn't focus on it to much on. I enjoyed the bit of romance. It's like it's own fairy tale.
I honestly enjoyed it! It wasn't at all what I guessed or expected. [??? out of 5] #firstreadoftheyear

Okay~ Blurb time!
I'm suprised at how everything is different that what I expected. Granted I knew nothing, and I mean N-O-T-H-I-N-G about the story or where it was coming from. I liked the title and the cover. I assumed fairytale and romance and what I'm getting is fairytale, mystery and supernatural. I love it so far. It's showing some romance but not focusing fully on it like other books. #captivated #thebeastisananimal #peternellevanarsdale

Well, the beast is real. In the beginning it felt as if it were a demon but not just any being. The way the people talk about the Beast it feels like he's Satan/Lucifer. I believed him to be a cursed a being or just the fear of going out to the unknown, but it is real. I can quite picture him completely but just because The Beast is an Animal doesn't mean The Beast is evil. So far The People are Monsters.

Okay. This isn't book related BUT yesterday I watched this movie and LOVED IT.
Confession: I wish this was a book. I was just imagining how much detail and feeling it would have if it was a book. And not just a book based on the movie but a book before a movie.

Update: I think a book was made but I don't know. Apparently it won't be released until February. #fingerscrossed

"And then she begins to fade away."
-FADE pg 229

FADE by Lisa McMann is the second book in the Wake trilogy (a.k.a The Dream Catcher Series). I enjoyed this book so much. I was hooked and there wasn't a moment when I felt bored or disinterested. I felt a connection to Janie in some aspects and found myself fully invested in every event of the book. There wasn't a dull moment for me. I'm so excited to read the final book 'GONE'. ?

I would love to have a reading buddy where we can also share out interruption of the dreams. In this trilogy, it's important because of the overall case. If anyone is interested in reading it with me later in the future I wouldn't mind rereading it and going over the meanings. Starting now I'm going to make my notes about the dreams.

Note for the case: Chem + DR = hard shit going down.
Also, I'm noticing the physical symptoms and fear for Janie.

"And every time he dreams it, the bell rings before Janie can figure out how to help him."

I went into this book blind. I had no idea what it was about. As I was reading it I found it to have a writing style I've never seen before. It gives the book a quick pace. I enjoyed reading it and can't wait to continue.
