While the first book was thrilling, I was worried that the other two in the trilogy wouldn‘t hold up. To my surprise and delight, they were all fantastic! The pace never felt too slow. The stakes were handled realistically, which made it more emotionally fulfilling in my opinion. The overall series focus on reproduction in a post apocalyptic world was handled differently than any other book in the genre that I‘ve read.

Reading this after what has happened recently in the US was a sobering experience with its references to childbirth & controlling of women's fertility. Gaia's world is set after the present, but due to climate change, things have regressed almost to medieval times. It's a decent example of the genre but it doesn't really add anything new to what we've read a hundred times before. 3.5🌟

Fiction: The book novel birthmarked is Fictional. There aren't any connections between my life and the book. In the book, the protagonist, Gaia, is a sixteen year old midwife, who takes babies from their biological mothers, and advances them to the Enclave. Looking at this I can see no connections. I am neither a sixteen year old girl, nor a midwife.

I totally enjoyed the story, it was a fast paced post apocalyptic story where babies are "advanced" from the walled off people into the city because the inside residents are suffering from hemophilia and need to breed it out. Sounds crazy and it was. I'd recommend it.

Not impressed with this at all. But I need something mindless while I pack up to move. #audiobook #libby #notworthyourtime

You keep wishing she‘d followed the instructions and destroyed the evidence, even if she‘s young is she really that sheltered? It wasn‘t a bad dystopian story. I would like to know more about the hemophilia in the Enclave and if there is somewhere for her to go to the north.

Overall I really liked the story, but somethings just didn't add up. Put those together and you get a shaky not bad out of greatness 🤷‍♀️

It is another YA distophy but it is however interesting. Some times it awesomed me but some others it was really predictable.
At first it bored me, but at the end I can't stop reading

Really interesting and different from other ya dystopian books. Excited to continue the series. Slow in places and not the best written book, but unique enough to keep your attention.
