so-soThis book seems to be heavily auto-biographical and likely revolves around the author's experience growing up in 1930s New York. It's a coming of age story in which family troubles and the protagonist's struggles to navigate them are offset by the wonder and promise of a better future by the 1939 New York World's Fair which he visits on separate occasions, once with his girlfriend and once with his family in tow. Not a bad read, not great either.
I read this novel years ago and liked it .Pairs well with my #NewYork worlds fair collection.I wasn‘t around to go there in 1939,but the futuristic designs of this fair captured my interest.They even introduced television at this fair,world war II slowed down the introduction of most of the technology to the general public . #augustisatrip
