Pickpick

I liked this enough to be a pick, but I have a lot of mixed feelings. It either goes too far or not far enough. A coming of age in a strict religious household story could have stood on it's own two feet. The added elements of mental illness could have been an insightful look at how religion and mental illness sometimes intersect, but instead felt like an afterthought just to add drama. A lot of untapped potential, but beautifully written.

I don‘t know what was up with this book but it took me forever to read. I lost track of how many times I had to renew it. 🤣 Overall, I felt like the book dragged and was just depressing. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I really liked this one. A quirky kind of coming of age story.

This book has been waiting for me since 2015. It called to me to start reading last night. 😊

LauraBrook I love when older unreads start calling to us to be picked up and read. 💗 7y

I have not read this. It is on my shelf awaiting me. But when I saw the prompt I thought of this Book. Why? Because I know it involves God and when my sister read my copy she said it was “weird”. That is all. 😜 #nuyear #prayingtothealiens

Suet624 It was weird. Kind of blah. 7y

Maybe it was because it was an audiobook - I'm still having trouble absorbing fiction on audio - but this book did nothing for me. There were so many things the author could have done with the story.

Notafraidofwords I bailed half way through this boook! 8y

Fun Friday Photo! This ending was incredible. First I was furious at the characters (wanted to throw the book), and then the reasoning hit me, and I feel back in love. An ending that makes you feel all the feels, from one extreme to the other and completely heart wrenching, this has my vote.
