My first thought for #WeAreGlass

The Last Jedi was an extremely divisive film, but I plant my flag firmly on the “Love It” side of the divide.

Some books remind me that #weareglass and fragile, some examples above. And somehow they almost always end up being a new favourite of mine. I guess I have a thing for ruin, distress and trauma. 💔

Thanks for a fun and hard photo challenge this month @Cinfhen and @TrishB 👏👏👏

#NuYear

TrishB Some awesome choices there 👍🏻 I am drawn to melancholy books too! 7y
Kalalalatja @Readage I loved it! It felt raw and tough, but also engaging and gripping. I can only recommend it 👍 7y

Kalalalatja @TrishB good to know I‘m not alone in liking the grim/sad/melancholy books 😄 7y
batsy I too am drawn to ruin, distress, and trauma. Much of life is like that and books are like little safety boats to help us navigate those spaces... 7y

 @Cinfhen @TrishB

If we are glass would eating glass soup make us cannibals? 🤔

Cinfhen Hmmmmm?!?! 7y
Kammbia1 Jonathan Carroll is one of my favorite authors. Have you read White Apples? It is the prequel to Glass Soup. 7y
FountainBookstore I love this book! 7y

TrishB I‘m not familiar with this author👍🏻 great pick. 7y
GrilledCheeseSamurai @TrishB He's amaaaaaazing! If you are ever in the need for a surreal supernatural(y) feeling stories with incredible character writing give him a shot! All his books are stand alone except for White Apples and Glass Soup (they're connected). 7y
TrishB Another one to add to the tbr! 7y
readordierachel The eternal question! 7y
FountainBookstore @GrilledCheeseSamurai Definitely one of my tops too. Not sure why he‘s not big here. He‘s massive in Austria. 7y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk Starting this soon! 7y
Kammbia1 @TrishB I have read four Carroll novels: White Apples, Glass Soup, The Land of Laughs, and my favorite, The Wooden Sea. He is able to combine surrealism, fantasy, and philosophy into entertaining and thought-provoking books. He is my review of The Land of Laughs: http://marion-hill.com/book-review-103-the-land-of-laughs-by-jonathan-carroll/ (edited) 7y
TricksyTails Welp, if both Neil Gaiman and the great @GrilledCheeseSamurai recommend it, then I definitely need to read this. 😁 7y
GrilledCheeseSamurai Great reviews, @Kammbia1 👍👍 7y
GrilledCheeseSamurai @TricksyTails read White Apples first. This one is a continuation of that one. 👍 7y
TrishB @Kammbia1 definitely need to have a look at these!! 7y
TricksyTails @GrilledCheeseSamurai Will do. Thank you. 7y

#NuYear #day31 #WeAreGlass This is the 2nd of the “Alice” books by Lewis Carrol.Set 6months after the first book,Alice climbs through the mirror above the fireplace to find herself in a reflected version of her room.Leaving the house she has more adventures in Wonderland with the Red Queen & Tweedledum&Tweedledee. The famous poems about the “Jabberwocky” & “The Walrus & The Carpenter”(which is my fave nonsense poem of all time)are in this volume.🐚

This book is a play, with autobiographical aspects which features characters based on Williams himself, his mother, and his mentally fragile sister Rose. #nuyear #weareglass
