This is a crazy cute book about a tomten, whom humans have never seen over the centuries. In the cold winters, he comforts and takes care of the farm animals. ❤️❤️❤️

The only one of this week‘s new to me seasonal picture books that really stood out was the tagged book. It captured a charming childhood magic, and I will definitely revisit it with little ones.
I would also use the more scientific pages of The Reasons for Seasons as a teaching tool in the future. It has a really straightforward explanation of why the tilt of the earth on its axis leads to changes in temperature throughout the year.
I wanted to read this again after tomte came up in another book I was reading. This time, knowing more about tomte as a Nordic folk figure, I definitely found more pleasure in the story but a little background in the book itself would have helped. Also, I found it strange that the tomte's words are sometimes set differently from the rest of the text and sometimes not- a distracting design issue.
The #jbchristmascardswap cards are already rolling in!! I can't tell you how much each & every one have made me smile and brightened my days. Beautiful cards, notes, bookmarks and even confetti!!! Thank you all so much! 😘
And it's done. Now it's time for some mulled wine and some good fantasy reading on the couch across from the tree 🎅❄⭐😀
Whee! The husband watched the kids while I ran off to the library book sale for a good thirty minutes. Picked up these books for the kids (ok so the Tomten might have been more for me) and some books for myself (see next post) for $12 (and donated the change from my $20).
