The Killing Room
The Killing Room | Peter May
7 posts | 9 read | 4 to read
Eighteen mutilated women in a Shanghai mass grave. But this is only the beginning of a horrific case for Investigator Li Yan and Mei Ling, head of Shanghai's serious crime squad. Ling is a formidable woman, and she appears to threaten Li Yan's relationship with pathologist Margaret Campbell. But when Campbell discovers that the victims were subjected to live autopsies, she knows she'll need all the help she can get. The Killing Room is the third in the acclaimed China Thriller series from Peter May, author of The Blackhouse, The Lewis Man and The Chessmen.

Outstanding addition to the China Thrillers series, and my favorite so far. A dark, gripping mystery that intertwines dramatic personal conflicts with the intensity of a chilling investigation. Lead detective, Li Yan, is called to Shanghai to assist in the investigation of a mass grave filled with dismembered bodies. He teams up again with American pathologist Margaret Campbell to discover who is behind the killings. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 ❤️📚

Currently reading - Peter May is so good at suspenseful police procedural thrillers! Forever grateful to @Crazeedi and @EadieB for the introduction to him! ❤️📚

I need to update my Litsy account with reviews! I‘ve gotten behind. So busy with house projects and my visiting MIL, I haven‘t had much time to read, let alone write reviews. She‘s going to be with us through the end of the year, so I‘m hoping to settle into more of a routine soon. 💕

EadieB @Elizabeth2 I‘m glad you are enjoying the book! 7mo
Crazeedi They're very good books! Hope you get to relax a bit! 7mo

China Thriller number 3
May certainly knows how to write a thriller. Margaret is asked to return to China to autopsy 18 or more body parts found in mud. Li is put in charge of investigation, and their relationship is strained with the addition of his associate. Nothing links these bodies, and the twists are anxiety producing!

TrishB I don‘t know why your last line made me want to go and buy it.... 4y
Andrew65 Love these 👏👏👏 4y
TheSpineView Good job! 👍📖 4y
Crazeedi @TrishB it's an excellent series, and I get so engrossed I get anxious reading, have to take breaks to calm down, lol. 4y

18 women are found in a mass grave in Shanghai. Li and Margaret end up investigating the case. Margret gets a nemesis who tries to get Li by any means. Brutal murders, nasty people, personal nightmares. This case is hitting a bit too close to home for our heroes. The book is heartbreaking in many ways, as well as great! Recommended!

Andrew65 A good series. 5y

Yes, have been looking for this book to continue the series, and now I‘ve got it! National Emergency Library, you did it again!

EadieB Lucky you! I read that one and gave it 5 stars! 5y
Andrew65 Both @EadieB and I are great fans of Peter May. This is a unique series, think I‘ve now read the first 4 in the series and love it. If not read it I strongly recommend his Lewis trilogy, book 3 gave me one of the biggest shocks of any book I‘ve known. Left me reeling for weeks! 5y
Tove_Reads @Andrew65 Yes, have read them. One of my fave trilogies. (edited) 5y

Andrew65 @EadieB It was but seeing them on a post like this makes me realise they are all mystery and suspense with six of the seven being crime detection books! 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 yes but that‘s the genre that we like! 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB True, possibly need to branch out into some more mystery / thrillers that aren‘t detectives. 6y
