6 posts | 11 read | 6 to read
A Top 10 Amazon Bestseller from a New York Times Bestselling Author "London, 1666" Amethyst Goldsmith makes dazzling jewelry, but her future isn't nearly as bright as the pieces she creates. Though custom dictates she wed her father's apprentice, her heart rebels against the match. In mere days Amy will be condemned to a stifling, loveless marriage, and she sees no way out--until the devastating fire of 1666 sweeps through London, and tragedy lands her in the arms of a dashing nobleman who knows a diamond in the rough when he sees it... Colin Chase, the Earl of Greystone, has his future all figured out. He's restoring his crumbling castle and estate to its former glory, and the key to its completion is his rich bride-to-be. But the Great Fire lays waste to his plans, saddling him with trouble--in the form of a lowly shopkeeper's daughter with whom he's most inconveniently falling in love... I ate a tasty grilled cinnamon bun while I read another chapter of AMETHYST.

I‘m really enjoying the book, so I looked Lauren Royal up on Kobo—and it turns out the author‘s preferred edition I‘m reading is no longer available. She‘s rereleased this whole series as “sweet & clean romances,” with new titles and her daughter as coauthor. I‘m curious whether they just removed the sex scenes or reworked the books on an ideological level.

Blueberry But how was the grilled cinnamon roll??💜 5y

I made myself a little pizza to use up some tomato & feta!

I‘m about 20% into AMETHYST after my suppertime reading session, and I like it a lot—except so far, it‘s one of those romances where I‘m way more interested in the trappings than the central relationship. The leads are cool people, their family dynamics are great, and I love the historical detail. Hopefully I‘ll invest in the couple soon.

ljuliel That looks tasty 😋 5y
xicanti @ljuliel it‘s an excellent combination. I highly recommend it. 5y

Another Sunday; another #weeklyforecast.

I started AMETHYST last night. When I finish it, I‘ll move along to TRIAL BY DESIRE. I hope to snag—and read— an Express copy of FROM THE ASHES by Jesse Thistle, too, but that‘s in the book gods‘ hands.

My pick-aways are still Colette‘s short fiction collection, McSweeney‘s #22, and the Sagas, which I‘m back into after a couple weeks‘ break.

Finally, I‘d like to hit at least vol 7 with my WicDiv reread.

tpixie What great plans you have for today! 5y

A head's up because I know some of you stacked this when I posted it as a #palatecleanser the other day. It's a #freebie today! Just came up in my Bookbub email.

CrowCAH Awesome, thanks for sharing; just downloaded it to the iPhone! 😊 Sounds like a good story. 8y

#feistyfeb My #palatecleanser also doubles as guilty pleasure: historical romances. My Kindle is clogged with these, since they're so often free or bargain priced. Lauren Royal's books are prime examples. Light, fluffy, fanciful, and quick reads after something meaty. I may be overdue 😊

CrowCAH Oooh, these look appetizing! ☺️ 8y

Mehso-so

The standard fluff romance. A Count falls for a merchant jeweller. Whatever will happen?? A quick romp in regency England.
