The Mouse and His Child
The Mouse and His Child | Russell Hoban
5 posts | 10 read | 5 to read
Two geniuses collaborate! Russell Hoban's timeless masterpiece is thrillingly re-illustrated by Caldecott Medalist David Small. The mouse and his child are wind-up toys forever joined at the hands. But when their mechanism breaks they are discarded, separated from the doll house where they lived and the toy elephant that the child calls "mother" (much to her chagrin). Thus begins the suspenseful journey that is heartbreaking, harrowing, and ultimately joyful as the mice seek what seems at first to be impossible: independence (self-winding) and the way back home. The Mouse and His Child has been lovingly reillustrated by Caldecott Medalist David Small for a new generation and a new millennium.

1. The oldest book I own is The Mouse and His Child copyright 1967. 2. The newest book is Deacon King Kong. 3. I don‘t know the worth of any, but maybe Lobe Bryant‘s The Mamba Mentality. 4. I think Euphoria has the prettiest cover. #BookBrag @SumisBooks

These are some of the books I loved the most as a child but have always been scared to revisit as an adult in case I lose that innocent #childlike joy I got from them when I was young #maybookflowers

KarenUK The Worst Witch!!! 😍😍😍 8y
Moray_Reads @rubyslippersreads I must have read it dozens of times but not for many years 8y

rubyslippersreads @Moray_Reads I checked it out of the library over and over again as a kid. And as an adult, paid way too much for a collectible copy when it was out of print. It's a bit dated, but I last read it only a few years ago, and would read it again. 8y
ScientistSam I loved the Worst Witch series! 8y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk I read The Mouse and His Child in... 3rd grade maybe? and I remember bits and pieces of plot but I know I got super emotional about it. 8y
Moray_Reads @TobeyTheScavengerMonk that's pretty much my memory too. I just remember that I loved it 8y
