Pickpick

Bee Season by Goldberg is one of my absolute favorite books — yet I‘d never read anything else by the author. While this one didn‘t speak to me as deeply, I could still see some of the hallmarks of Goldberg‘s writing. Her characters are complex, there‘s a coming-of-age story, & a portrayal of Judaism that‘s a bit left of center (or maybe right, in this case?). While I understand how people might be quick to call BULLSHIT on the ending...👇🏻

monalyisha 1/1:...I think the point is more about the philosophical nature of guilt than it is about storyline. This is a stylistic quirk that might ostracize a lot of readers. While I won‘t pretend that it didn‘t give me pause, it didn‘t totally ruin the book or the experience for me either. Also, can we take a moment to acknowledge that Celia‘s husband Huck is an absolute *dream* (while still being believable)? So understanding, patient, & true! 4y

Nope. I don‘t know why I always do this to myself.... When I‘m not that interested to into a physical book, I‘ll bail after about 100 pages, but I always end up holding on longer with audiobooks. I finished this whole book, and I really wish I didn‘t waste my time. It didn‘t grab my attention, I didn‘t care about the outcome, and the ending was HORRIBLE. 👎🏻At least I got 1hr and 45 mins into #25inFive before the crap end!

I‘m about 3/4 of the way through this one. And I‘m still not sure how I feel about it. It‘s a short one, so I‘m gonna stick it through til the end. Maybe it‘ll get more interesting. 😕 #25infive
