This is Anthony‘s first female protagonist in the series and much of the book serves to highlight just how shallowly he writes his women. The book is fine, as with the others, but he definitely seems like the type of male author who spends more time describing the women in his stories than actually characterizing them.

CSeydel @InLibrisVeritas I don‘t blame you. In honesty I‘m reading them for the nostalgia. I devoured them when I first read them, some 25 years ago. Since then, my expectations for quality literature have shifted somewhat. I‘m not as impressed this time around. 6y

Thank you for thinking of me @Ubookquitous I just checked and I have the first four sitting on my TBR shelf that I picked up (I think) at the Salvation Army not too long ago, but I haven‘t read them yet. So a group read would be my first time reading this series. Definitely count me in. 👍

CSeydel This was my favorite series when I was in high school (and the first Piers Anthony I read). I‘ll be interested to see how it stands up, reading as an adult. 6y
