Buttons and Lace (Buttons #1)
Buttons and Lace (Buttons #1) | Penelope Sky
I owe him a debt. A big one. The payment can't be settled with money or favors. He only wants one thing. Me. Every action gets a reward. A button. Once I fill his jar with three hundred and sixty five buttons he'll let me go. He'll let me walk away. But I have to earn every single one. By submitting to the darkest, cruelest, and most beautiful man I'd ever known. ***TRIGGER WARNING*** There are some difficult and dark scenes that may upset some readers.

I'm basing my rating on the overall series, not the 1st book specifically, because Buttons and Lace is *extremely* dark, graphic, and hard to read (major TWs for rape). But I was curious enough to finish the series to bring Pearl and Crow's story to a conclusion, and the third book was certainly my favorite of the bunch. DEFINITELY not for everyone, but if dark (and I do mean DARK) romance is your thing, this was a crazy ride with a lot of spice.

Ugh I can‘t with this. I know these types aren‘t my thing but my (new to reading!! 🌟) IRL friends are trying out the #steamy books, so I‘m joining in. I‘m no prude, certainly 😬, but I just found this too problematic to enjoy fully. If anyone has recs for intelligent and well done of these types, I‘d be interested in hearing about them.

intothehallofbooks I think Tiffany Reisz writes fantastic erotica. The series begins with The Siren-have you read it? When I read her stuff, I don‘t really feel I‘m reading mostly steamy scenes with details in between, I feel like I‘m reading a series about characters that live a very steamy life. I care about them outside of all of the sex and romance. If that makes sense. 4y
ravenlee Lauren Dane has several trilogies/series that have some serious steam but also character development and actual plot. At least two in the Brown siblings series feature triad relationships; I think the first is Laid Bare. TW: backstory contains stalking, death of a child. 4y
Chelsea.Poole @intothehallofbooks thank you!! I have read The Rose by Reisz and it‘s the only steamy read that I‘ve read that felt like it contained real characters. I‘ll have to look at The Siren. 4y
Chelsea.Poole @ravenlee thank you!! I‘ve never heard of Dane before. I‘ll look at these and pass them along as well 😊 4y

I couldn't finish this book. The context was more difficult to read than I anticipated. Is not a bad book per say and the writing style is fantastic, I just couldn't handle it.
