Lanark: A Life in Four Books | 
pickI finished a book! I actually started this at some point in 2020, and got derailed by a wild year (two moves, new job, etc.), but somehow was able to pick this right back up without missing a beat. Rating this a pick for sheer ambition and creativity, despite my frequently furrowed brow while reading.
pickThis book, you can judge by its cover. It is phantasmagoric, inscrutable, and ever and ever weirder—yet it retains coherence and never feels arbitrary in its oddities. It also has the best meta-fictional sequence I‘ve ever read.
Man is the pie that bakes and eats himself, and the recipe is separation.

pickI read this book when I left home for the first time and was feeling lost. This book didn't make me feel "found", but it helped me be less afraid of feeling lost. I love it more than anything.
