A history of advertising from patent medicine through radio and television, the internet and smartphones. A lot of fascinating stuff, and a nice fit to listen to during my commute.

A tour-de-force review of the history of the ‘four screens‘ — movie, tv, PC, smartphone — and how these media have encroached on all manner of public and private life. Important reminder that if media content is free, then you are the product, not the customer. So my wife asks why I do Litsy if I don‘t do FB.Is Litsy just another attention merchant?

Time for some nonfiction. I'm enjoying this so far. This week marks the third anniversary of my disconnecting from Facebook, something I almost never miss. I'm very concerned that a single private company has direct access to billions of people and their personal data. That's something I'd think more people would be troubled by.
