For fans of Rainbow Rowell and Stephanie Perkins
Lexi Angelo is a Convention Kid - she's got a clipboard and a walkie talkie to prove it.
Aidan Green is a messy-haired, annoyingly arrogant author and he's disrupting her perfect planning.
In a flurry of awkward encounters, lost schedules and late-night conversations, Lexi discovers that some things can't be planned... Things like falling in love.

In the latest episode of the Brit Lit Podcast, we hear from YA author Maggie Harcourt about the emotional honesty of teenagers, and all things fandom, including how writing fanfiction can give authors a start.

#Rocktober #MyGeneration @Cinfhen @BarbaraBB

This was another difficult prompt but I eventually chose Unconventional because as far as I can see my generation are fighting hard against the traditional roles of society.

That and we seem to love conventions. 😂

Cinfhen Well played 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 7y

I started this book to get in the mood for #YALC, the Young Adult Literature Convention, and now I'm slooowly reading it so I can pretend I'm still at YALC 😭😭😭 I have #NineWorlds next weekend but I'm still sad to be missing two days of YALC! Even for my mum's birthday! #YA #youngadult #UKYA

Dear friends, drop everything and find Unconventional by @maggieharcourt . I picked it up in the U.K. in February and it's going to be among my favorites for the year. It's perfect for the fangirl in all of us. All the swoons and love for conventions are within its pages. Along with a fictional story that I wish was real!

Really enjoying this one but sadly must try to out it aside so I can go do errands...like stop at grocery store so I have food for the week. Adulting is so overrated

Because I cannot travel without buying books - here are the ones I brought home from my week-long trip to London, from four separate bookstores!

Tnovo I do the same thing! Exploring new book shops makes traveling fun. 📚👍 7y

I ran out of room for my books in my epic prepare-for-rental-inspection clean up... I figure with the Niffler on top it looks less like I didn't know where to put them? 🙄

In other news, I messed the time of the inspection up... so the agent arrived moments after I stepped out of the shower 😬😂 (luckily the door was chained)

Unconventional is a really fun, geeky, read. You'll want to sign up for a convention as soon (or probably during!) as you finish the book. And you'll be rooting for Aiden and Lexi from the start.

What? No. I'm not starting yet another book, when I've apparently got a few dozen on the go already... I don't know what you mean... 😇

This was such a great read. I hope American publishers see sense and bring it over here. Yes, it's very British (though apparently British teenagers are sounding more and more like American ones these days, which makes me a bit sad) but the Britishness is part of its charm. In the meantime, you can get it at https://www.bookdepository.com/Unconventional/9781409590156/?a_aid=claireindc for just $7.17 plus free postage 👍

Am I crazy or does Maggie Harcourt write dialogue like a Sorkin fan?

Very excited to come home to this, which I pre-ordered when I was researching great YA Brit Lit for a Book Riot post and couldn't resist it. It's not officially out till 1st Feb and Book Depository aren't known for their speed so it's doubly exciting.
Also I just love this cover.
