Get It Done When You're Depressed
Get It Done When You're Depressed | John Preston, Julie Fast
2 posts | 1 to read
Shake the blues away. Everyone knows that depression can lead to guilt, sadness, frustration, and in the case of 15-20% of people with depression, suicide. Because we live in a culture that rewards (and often worships) productivity, when a depressed person can't meet the expectations of society, the depression becomes worse and a vicious cycle begins. The goal of Getting Things Done When You're Depressed is to break this cycle. Readers will learn: - How to prepare yourself mentally for working while depressed - How to structure your environment so you can work more easily - How to work with others - How to prevent depression

Sorry for the silence, fellow Littens; I haven't been feeling right for a while so at the urging of the BBE, finally went to see my doctor. It turns out I display many of the classic symptoms of depression, & have been put on medication for the time being. I'm glad the BBE intervened before things got worse but wish I'd clued in earlier. I still don't feel like doing much, even reading (😳) but hey, baby steps. Don't ever be afraid to seek help!

Jess7 My late aunt struggled with depression all of her life. Some books she enjoyed reading about #mentalhealth and that I found thoroughly entertaining were written by the late, great Carrie Fisher who worked tirelessly to shed the stigma surrounding mental health issues. It might lift your spirits a little - Maybe try reading: Wishful Drinking or 7y
Notafraidofwords Feel better. 7y
Hoopiefoot Glad you listened to BBE and went to the doctor. Take care of yourself 💜 7y

Tanner @Jess7 I think I shocked a couple of people at work when I freely told them I was on meds - "That's just not something people talk about." It should be! Thanks for the recs; I'm going to do some library-book downloading today. 7y
Tanner @Notafraidofwords Thanks - I intend to! 7y
Tanner @Hoopiefoot Me too - I actually feel better for having gone and have her taking me seriously. 7y
Tanner @mrsmarch It's true - I would always tell that to the BBE, but I forgot to practice what I preach. 7y
Smangela Beautiful picture! Thinking of you! Baby steps are key :) 7y
Tanner @Smangela Thanks! Yup, don't want to overwhelm myself again. 7y
