This has been sitting on my bedside table partially read now for over a year. I can‘t lie to myself anymore that I‘m going to finish it. There are so many other things to read! 📚

Evidently, this statue, Bacchus with Satyr, was considered sixteenth century "overt erotica." You go, Isabella de Medici. XXX ?
I started this book a few months ago, but took a break when the first few chapters were barely about the book's title character and definitely not about murder. I returned to it this morning, and I'm glad I did because the author is starting to focus on Princess Isabella de Medici. #backontrack #amreading
So far, this book has had a lot of history, politics, architecture, and food, but not a single murder! I mean, I like history, politics, architecture, and food, but I also like me some true crime.
I am super behind on posting my #readinggoals for #womenshistorymonth:
🔸Murder of a Medici Princess by Caroline P. Murphy
🔸Women against Abortion: Inside the Largest Moral Reform Movement of the Twentieth Century by Karissa Haugeberg
🔸Irena's Children: A True Story of Courage by Tilar P. Mazzeo
🔸The Price for Their Pound of Flesh: The Value of the Enslaved, from Womb to Grave, in the Building of a Nation (which I didn't get to last month)
This #royals book has been on my #tbr list for a looooong time. Maybe this year will be the year given my #bookishresolution to only read books I already own! #readJanuary
