Danny and the Dinosaur
Danny and the Dinosaur | Syd Hoff
4 posts | 25 read | 1 to read
Danny loves dinosaurs. When he sees one at the museun and says, "It would be nice to play with a dinosaur," a voice answers, "And I think it would be nice to play with you." So begins Dannys and the dinosaur's wonderful adventure together! But a dinosaur is no ordinary playmate. Even the most everyday activities become extraordinary, like finding a big-enough place to hide a dinosaur in a game of hide-and-seek, and keeping him from knocking over houses with his long tail. But Danny can teach a old dinosaur new tricks. It's the most fun this dinosaur has had in a hundred million years! Originally published as An I Can Read Book over 40 years ago, this classic story is perfect for reading together. Danny's out on the town with a real live dinosaur. And whether they're eating ice cream or playing hide-and-seek, these two are having one hundred million years of fun--all in one day. Outstanding Children's Books of 1958 (NYT)

I don't remember reading this as a child. It was a fun story and I see why it is still around. It is rather long for an easy reader, but it flows well.

Daisey I remember really liking this book as a kid. 5y
Sunraven Holy whoa, I also don‘t remember reading this, but I suppose I must have, because that artwork looks oddly familiar. Memories... 5y
LibrarianRyan @Sunraven yep. My thoughts as well 5y
Sunraven Going to have to revisit this one, too, I think! 5y

Day 4: these all count has the same cover for me because I can't think of one without thinking of the other.

@Whimsical.Curiosity ready for a challenge? 10 days of book covers that have changed you. Without context.

Soubhiville I loved most of these as a kid! 6y
Whimsical.Curiosity @WhatThePuck I love this idea! Funny enough, I pay NO attention to covers after I start reading. Couldn't even tell you a cover I loved or remember. But I totally judge a book by its cover! 6y

Took time to visit the de Grummond Gallery in Southern Miss Cook Library. This room was devoted to Syd Hoff and was full of original spreads, mockups, sketches, and panels.
