Tamra Such a cutie! 💜 I‘m thinking we should down size in dog breeds for our next family member, is anything I should know about beagles in advance? I‘ve always thought they would be a good choice. 4y

I waited weeks for this library hold only to find out it's not compatible with my kindle!😭 I don't know about you but I hate reading on my phone!
I might return this and just buy the physical book afterall.

swishandflick That happened to me too but another Litten suggested waiting 24 hours and trying again. It worked! 4y
heatherkaz @swishandflick 😲 I sat on it since yesterday morning and now I already returned it since there were many people waiting, but if it ever happens again I'll have to check that! Thanks for the tip! 4y

Wow, what did I just read?! This has all the staples of a good cozy thriller, but a warning that there are a lot of disturbing potential triggers in here. (Child abuse, neglect, abortion)
Otherwise, an exciting love triangle with an open-ended conclusion!

A young woman rescues a supposed Luftwaffe officer in the mountains. As their individual histories are revealed its apparent that their colliding paths couldn't be more serendipitous.
I couldn't put this down! I'm always a fan of WWII historical fiction. easy to read in terms of weight of subject matter as it focused mostly on the current plight of our protagonists as opposed to heavy, emotional WWII material. Nonetheless, well written!

A funny and smart story about the Danvers High girls field hockey team led to the state championship on the wings of witchcraft and Emilio Estevez. Need I say more?

Glad I finally got around to reading this! Full of a lot of heavy topics, but being narrated by a naive, yet likeable, teenage girl softened the blow.
I loved this family of women and everything they did for each other.

The prequel to "Roses" spans three generations of the Toliver family. Amid the Civil War and industrialization of the 19th century is the family saga and "curse" that the Tolivers endure.

Side note: The only author I know that kills off this many characters is George R R Martin?, but seriously.

It took a few chapters to get used to the writing style, but once I did I was able to connect with the story and cast of characters.
Several intersecting female POVs deal with a range of issues including relationship struggles and bodily autonomy (both personal and political).

The hype over this book is not without merit. Aside from loving the engrossing family saga, I also learned a lot about the strained relationship between Koreans and Japanese.

A quick, funny, and often inappropriate set of short stories about various famous people. Plenty of commentary on religion and culture that actually made me laugh out loud.
My favorites include the real story about the Last Supper, Da Vinci's lost inventions, and Larry King's interview with Hitler. 👍👍

This is the first pick of our new #bookclub formed at my work... It read fast, but I'm not really into all of the spiritual references in here. What can be taken away from this novel is a conversation about what it means to be a good human being, moving on from tragedy, and forgiveness.

This was great in the way of the objective history of scientology; less shock and awe than some other scientology-related material. Don't get me wrong though, there were plenty of WTF moments, but if you want to know how and why L Ron Hubbard started this [religion] and how it evolved into the monster it is today, then this is a great place to start!

This was an eye-opening historical fiction. At the risk of sounding naive, it was absolutely heart breaking to learn of the strong anti-semitic undercurrent in early 19th century society.
Nonetheless, the story was a beautiful merger of multiple lives along two time lines. If you love historical fiction, anything to do with WWII, music, then you may enjoy this.

In the follow up to #TheAlienist, Stevie recalls the story of the group's second major case that has character twists and turns galore, a serial killer, political scandal, courtroom drama, and tons of action. I liked this installment in the Dr Laszlo Kreizler series just as much as the first.

My husband took our son to the library today... So here's the first library book haul of his own!

At what age did any of you sign up your children for their own library cards?

CocoReads I think my girls got theirs in kinder. Or maybe 1st grade. One or the other. 6y
rachelm Still haven't yet, with pre-k and toddler here. I'm thinking kindergarten or when he's truly an independent reader (kind of as a reward 😊) 6y

heatherkaz @CocoReads @rachelm @queerbookreader my son is only 3, so I was thinking it would be nice to wait a little while till he understands it a little better! I think I was in first grade when I got mine. I didn't know what the most common/appropriate age was 6y
rachelm I was in kindergarten. I think it helps for them to have a concept of responsibility for something (since fines are real world consequences), so school age is a good idea in my book 😋 6y
