So I‘m definitely vested in where this series is going but I don‘t think Scott is doing a particularly good job setting up what I assume is going to be a big showdown in the final book. I don‘t think he laid enough groundwork for the way this instalment ends to be plausible but it‘s an interesting starting point for the next book.

Book 4/4 for #OutstandingOctober

Andrew65 Well done 👏👏👏 1y

Is nobody in this series to be trusted? I rooted for Perenelle, but then why are the memories from the witch so weird about her? But I also wrote Machiavelli off, and now he seems to rethink his choices? I'm still hoping for the best for Sophie and Josh, but with the latter being hypnothized and all, I feel like big trouble is on its way. I do want to know more about the man with the hook as a hand. This part just left me with a lot of questions!

I love this series, book#4. Josh needs to listen to his sister.😂 Love that the history of Alcatraz is told at the end of this book in the series. If you love Harry Potter, read this series.

Twins and Siblings. This book explores the very complicated love/hate relationships between both and how they change over time. This is really well done and subtle considering this is a middle school/ YA book and number 4 in the series. The Flamel's are still aging and the Twins of destiny are untangling the threads of the story they are enmeshed in that goes back the start of time. 3/5 stars.

I feel like as the story progresses the main characters (and the main secondary) begin to face more challenges, grow in depth and overcome more and more complex situations. The fact that the author has been able to build like this qualifies this as a great #YA coming of age and adventure series. 4.5 ⭐️ #recentlyread #nospoilers #series

Scochrane26 I‘ve read this series. Is that the 3rd or 4th one? 4y
aa_guer2021 @Scochrane26 it‘s the 4th. 😁 4y
Scochrane26 It‘s been awhile since I read them. I read them after one of my youth group members told me about them. 4y
aa_guer2021 @Scochrane26 I started to read them because of the Nicholas Flamel connection and my love of Harry Potter. Of course there is no connection, but the books are fascinating. 4y

Getting better! I think my difficulty with this series is that it tells you what's happening instead of describing and letting you feel what's happening. It really is a good series, I think I just have a preference for certain writing styles and this falls outside of that.

I forgot all about Josh at the end of this one. I wish I could go immediately to the next book, but a shower and sleep calls. I can't wait until it's time to dig into the next book tomorrow night.

Somehow, most of this book I didn't remember, so I'm even more thankful I'm reading this series again. Talk about an absolutely amazing series.

Andrew65 @Karylahn That's always the worry when you have looked forward to a series for so long. 7y
Balibee146 Hi I did though I can only remember bits and pieces. I read them all consecutively and quickly and think I would have appreciated them more if I'd spaced them out a bit. Will re read one of these days 😀 7y
