When bureaucracy is taken to an extreme, you start feeling sorry for the Antichrist, and there‘s *very, very* special magical orphanage on a unique island that exists. And also 🌈. *contented sigh* 💙🥰🥹

The plot thickens. The characters get more developed, the story is becoming more interesting. And it‘s nice to have a know-it-all be put in his place. I am happy to have given this series a shot. Because these modern updates on familiar stories are a breath of fresh air and a head scratcher at the same time. On to the next one, very shortly. #recentlyread #nospoilers

Oh, Jason. I am so sorry that the juvenile justice system has failed you so badly. And Bennie, I am so sorry you had to clean up the mess. Prepare to put a chunk of time aside once you start, because it will suck you in and not let go. And that ending. #recentlyread #mystery #detectivefiction #nospoilers

One done, and many to go. A retelling of Red Riding Hood and the Wolf with added robotics and mind control for fun. A girl on the hunt of her grandmother uncovers a long forgotten story of her childhood, her place in the larger narrative and the choices she must make. Fast paced, filled with angst and adventure it was a quick read. I am excited to see where the full saga goes. #recentlyread #nospoilers #tackletheTBR #lunarchronicles 🤔😩🙃🤖

Mehso-so

So I managed to find a detective story with a new set of characters from a (new to me) author from a LFL. I liked the main character Detective Stilwell, but the premise had all of the elements of a detective story with a bumbling counterpart, missing person, broken hearts, political motivations and everything that comes from this genre. Unfortunately this makes it a so-so only. Idk if I will read the next one. #recentlyread #nospoilers

So I am finished. 😂 There is introduction and setting the stage and then there is THIS BOOK. Obviously the beginning of a series, with many intriguing characters, complex back stories, fascinating world premises and sometimes a headache. 🙃 Saving the afterlife through magic. Quite the tall order. The jury is out if I will continue, but in the end I don‘t regret trying. #recentlyread #nospoilers #BOM

Books like this get devoured in a few days. With my heart in my throat and bated breath, I was turning pages. Terms like MASCAL and napalm are now seared in my brain. There *were* women in Vietnam and their courageous, heartbreaking, life changing stories have to be told. Before they are forgotten. This is the best author for such a task. Highly recommended, but beware of the risks! #recentlyread #nospoilers #bookofthemonth

Just finished last night. A retelling of the Daphne story she is a powerful female MC who is not swayed by the charms of Apollo, not intimidated by the seemingly insurmountable task of saving Olympus and not phased by the mistrust thrown her way for being an outsider in Sparta. Fast paced, emotional, and a satisfying character journey. #recentlyread #nospoilers #retelling #recommendsday

I actually finished this book shortly after posting the quote from it. 🙃 The story of her growth stayed with me. Discovering such a thing about her father, relearning herself, the advent of the internet 🛜 and the place it has in our world. A fascinating narrative of intrigue and suspense. Growth stories are a favorite and this is definitely one of those. I also liked the historical information. #recentlyread #nospoilers #bookofthemonth

This book did not take me long to finish, because once started I couldn‘t put it down. I did not expect to feel so invested in this story but Melanie and Wanda touched my heart. The survival, the questions about humanity, the reactions and the love. The ending left me with a contented sigh. More like this, please. #recentlyread #nospoilers #dystopian #fantasy 💙
