This book is so much Douglas Adams! James Goss did an awesome job making a book out of different text fragments and documents. I had so much fun with this and loved how the characters evolved. And yes, this book made me laugh, just as every book by Douglas Adams does. Very well done, Mr. Goss!

A pick mainly for the K-9 bits. John Leeson would be a good choice for audiobook narrator. But I think the story went on a bit too long for my liking 😐

Stayed up late so I could review this for Dr Whosday! This adaptation of the episode by Douglas Adams draws from multiple versions of the script, resulting in a story that's a bit different from the televised episode. The novel is a fast paced and fun adventure which fleshes out the character of Romana and her dynamic with the Doctor. Goss captures Adams' voice, and his Fourth Doctor leaps off the page. A very fun read for any Whovian! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

The Doctor did so hate a summariser with their 'May I remind you, Doctor, that my clone army' this and 'You seem to forget, Time Lord' that. To much list-making when young, that was the problem.

"You won't get away with it you know."
"And what makes you so certain of that, Doctor?"
"At the moment, nothing at all, but it does my morale no end of good just to say it."

The Doctor could and would talk to anyone. Romana was only really used to conversing with people once she‘d established their qualifications. But not the Doctor. Oh no. Here they were, being marched off by two faceless people who had, in all probability, been ordered to kill them, and the Doctor was being infernally chatty.

This Dr Whosday I'll be paying tribute to Romana, the Doctor's companion in my current read The Pirate Planet. Portrayed by three actresses (so far) and appearing in the show, the novels, and the Big Finish audio plays, Romana is an important figure in the history of Doctor Who and one of the Doctor's most interesting companions.

"I save planets, mostly. This time I think I've arrived here too late. Far, far too late."

The Doctor woke up and for once didn't feel like springing out of bed. He slept rarely, but when he did so, it was purely for the sheer fun of it and the delight of the breakfast that would follow. Sleep helped him cope marvellously with a lifetime of being stunned, rendered comatose or knocked unconscious. He always woke up with the expectations of scrambled eggs.

Started reading this one last night, and the disclaimer on page one really sets the tone. 😂

It's Dr Whosday and I just found out the novelization of Douglas Adams' The Pirate Planet is finally available! Back in the days of the Target novelizations, all of the Adams scripts somehow got passed over (something BBC is now correcting). The Pirate Planet is the final one to be released but also the one I'm most interested in because, as an episode, it's not as famous as either of his other two stories. This might be my first Who read of 2017!
