My Best Stories
My Best Stories | Alice Munro
3 posts | 2 read | 1 reading | 4 to read
In her Introduction, Margaret Atwood says, "Alice Munro is among the major writers of English fiction of our time ... Among writers themselves, her name is spoken in hushed tones." My Best Stories is a dazzling selection of stories-seventeen favourites chosen by the author from across her distinguished career. The stories are arranged in the order written, allowing even the most devoted Munro admirer to discover how her work developed, taking surprising turns. The stories span a quarter of a century and include "Royal Beatings," "Friend of My Youth," and "The Love of a Good Woman." This is a book to read-and re-read-very slowly, savouring each story. This collection of small masterpieces deserves a place in every Canadian booklover's home.

I'm posting one book per day from the ever growing unread stacks in my personal library. No description or explanation, just books I own and plan to read. #tbr

Day 7

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I think I‘m going to start posting these! There are soooo many on my shelves and I want to read them all now 📚📚📚 3y
CuriousG @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks - it has been fun posting the books I own on my TBR. Can't say it was my idea though...originally saw @dariazeoli posting and was inspired by it. I think it is a great way to remind myself how many gems I have just sitting and waiting for me to pick them up! 3y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @CuriousG exactly!! I can‘t choose sometimes and I‘m so busy with #LitsyLove it‘s a challenge! I wondered who started it.. 3y

Pickpick

The writing and characters are superb. Maybe I read too many sci-fi and thrillers but I kept anticipating crazy things were going to happen in some of the stories and they didn't. Great stuff even if you aren't getting a lot of action.
