How To Eat: The Pleasures and Principles of Good Food | Nigella Lawson
6 posts | 5 read | 4 to read
Nigella Collection: a vibrant new look for Nigellas classic cookery books. Cooking is not just about joining the dots, following one recipe slavishly and then moving on to the next. In cooking, as in writing, you must please yourself to please others. Hailed by chefs, reviewers, cookery writers and millions of home cooks worldwide as one of the best cookery books ever written, How To Eat is more than just an imaginative collection of over 350 delicious, simple recipes. Combining Nigellas down-to-earth, practical cookery advice with a passion for food and a friendly, chatty style, you will need two copies of this glorious classic: one for the kitchen, one for the bedside table. This is Nigel Slaters all-time favourite cookbook: If I could only keep one cookbook, this would be it. How To Eat suits the way I cook. It is as if Nigella is sitting on a stool next to me in the kitchen as Im cooking ... With every page you know she loves this stuff, and she wants you to love it too. Its a very, very special book for me. My own copy is falling apart. With gloriously witty food writing, easy recipes, basic cooking tips and a beautiful hardback design, this is a book you will treasure for many years as well as a delicious gift for friends and family. Basics from easy bread recipes and basic roast chicken to sauce ingredients and seasonal foods Cooking in advance slow cooking, marinades and stress-free, easy recipes One and two cooking for one and meals for two people, from the practical to the romantic Fast food easy recipes and quick meal ideas Weekend lunch Saturday and Sunday lunch menus, for entertaining friends and family meals Dinner complete dinner menus for any occasion, from an elegant dinner party to a simple supper Low Fat healthy recipes and low-fat meals that still burst with flavour Feeding babies and small children weaning recipes, easy family meals and dishes to tempt that fussy eater

Wednesday‘s op shop scores after a stressful day at work! The overalls are for my niece Sybil, the bath products are for my Easter long weekend relaxing time, the cookbooks are for me to enjoy some cook fests over the holidays, the doll sewing kit is because I‘m on holidays after a massive few weeks & have more time. Woo hoo! Visitors, birthdays & weddings... It‘s a massive life. We had a flood in my apartment building hence the lack of carpet.

I‘m not much of a Non fiction reader, but I just love food writing. My copy of this book is dog-eared and its pages are stained, just as a well-loved cookbook should be! 😊
After reading, cooking is my biggest passion. I first discovered Nigella when she wrote a column in British Vogue and I fell in love with her writing, her love of great ingredients and of cooking for friends. Cooking for others brings me so much joy... 💕

I made my hubby so jealous this weekend with the traditional roast dinner my lovely sister-in-law in the UK cooked, that on my first day back in the US, I‘m making one for him!
It‘s been so long since I‘ve made Yorkshire puds, that I had to grab this old faithful from the shelf to find the ratios! 🤦‍♀️
Although this book has no pics (which is usually a no no for me), it‘s written so beautifully, and the recipes are so great, I just love it! 💕

RealLifeReading Sunday roast! Yum! 6y
Lauram Sunday roast is our Christmas tradition. I‘m not sure why we restrict ourselves to once a year. (edited) 6y
KarenUK @RealLifeReading It WAS yum! Roast chicken with lemon, pan gravy, roasted potatoes and brussel sprouts, cauliflower cheese and Yorkshire puds! @Lauren There‘s a reason it‘s a weekly occurrence in UK! 👍💕 6y

My mom meeting her hero Nigella Lawson last night at an AWF special event. Nigella was amazing, perhaps even more so in real life!

Foxyfictionista My father in law refers to Nigella as a "hot cookie". So now I think that ever time I see her. ??? 7y

Thank you for the tag @rohit-sawant . I think I'd be too tongue tied to invite my favourite fiction authors for #5fordinner. I love cookbooks and read recipes like short stories so I'm going to invite the authors of my old faithful cookbooks, who also write beautifully🥄Nigella Lawson🥄Nigel Slater🥄Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall 🥄Jamie Oliver 🥄Jenny Rosenstrach. I'm not cooking though; it will be a potluck!

monkeygirlsmama Fab idea! 💡 😁 7y
