Love Is the Cure
Love Is the Cure: On Life, Loss, and the End of AIDS | Elton John
4 posts | 3 read | 3 to read
A deeply personal account of Elton John's life during the era of AIDS and an inspiring call to action. In the 1980s, Elton John saw friend after friend, loved one after loved one, perish needlessly from AIDS. He befriended Ryan White, a young Indiana boy ostracized because of his HIV infection. Ryan's inspiring life and devastating death led Elton to two realizations: His own life was a mess. And he had to do something to help stop the AIDS crisis. Since then, Elton has dedicated himself to overcoming the plague and the stigma of AIDS. The Elton John AIDS Foundation has raised and donated $275 million to date to fighting the disease worldwide. Love Is the Cure includes stories of Elton's close friendships with Ryan White, Freddie Mercury, Princess Diana, Elizabeth Taylor, and others, and the story of the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Sales of Love Is the Cure benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

Our society must learn, however slowly, to cure social ills like gender inequality, even as much as it wants to get rid of infectious diseases...
Love is the Cure, says Elton John. I agree 💯

Not book related, but!!!! I'm still on cloud 9, and can't help myself! A good friend of mine ended up with an extra ticket to go see Sir Elton John last night, and she gave it to me! Amazing seats, amazing preformance, amazing experience. It was the best concert ever! I am beyond blessed to have gotten to see this legend before he ends his touring for good.

madamereadsalot1 @Gaylagal2 thanks! I'll definitely never forget it! This was my first, and only time, to get to see him live. 6y

I'm still riding the high of Wednesday night. Elton was my first concert, saw him twice since, and I was so happy for the opportunity to see him one more time. While other kids were emo-ing it to Dashboard Confessional, I got emotional support from Sad Songs and I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues (he played both at the show!). Interested to read the tagged book

Suet624 So fun!!! 6y
JamieArc I saw him for the first time last year. Definitely a bucket list item! 6y
