The Devil's Daughter
The Devil's Daughter | Katee Robert
6 posts | 7 read | 4 to read
Growing up in a small town isn't easy, especially when you're the daughter of a local cult leader. Ten years ago, Eden Collins left Clear Springs, Montana, and never once looked back. But when the bodies of murdered young women surface, their corpses violated and marked with tattoos worn by her mother's followers, Eden, now an FBI agent, can't turn a blind eye. To catch the killer, she's going to have to return to the fold. Sheriff Zach Owens isn't comfortable putting Eden in danger, even if she is an elite agent. And he certainly wasn't expecting to be so attracted to her. As calm and cool as she appears, he knows this can't be a happy homecoming. Zach wants to protect her--from her mother, the cult, and the evil that lurks behind its locked gates. But Eden is his only key to the tight-lipped group, and she may just be closer to the killer than either one of them suspects...

This book had a great premise but the characters were dull and lacking chemistry in the romance. It took me half a year to finish this 300 page book cause I would get bored after a few chapters and put the book down for weeks or months. I had just enough interest in finding out who the killer was to not bail on this one completely. I am a fan of Katee Robert‘s other books though especially her O‘Malley series

Book 3 done for the #4in48readathon I‘ve still got 3.5 hours left and my last pick is only a little over 100 pages. But, back to this one. Really good, with a twist to who the killer was that I didn‘t see coming! @Syndelle777

#readingslumpssuck So these are the books that's I've started in the past week or so and can't seem to get into. There's not anything wrong with any of these books it's all on me. I just can't seem to focus and the more I force myself to keep reading the more I'm disliking the book😞I'm hoping to get back to all of these at some point but I've gotta just keep trying new books till I find the one🤞😌

KCorter I try mixing things up when I'm in a slump. Try some comics, short stories, or an audiobook. Rereads also work! 7y
KCorter When you get to it, let me know what you think of Finders Keepers! It was my favorite in the Bill Hodges trilogy. 7y
Daughter-of-words @KCorter thanks for the tips😊 I was gonna try one more book and if that doesn't work I was gonna pick up one of the graphic novels on my tbr. I picked up Finders keepers immediately after finishing mr Mercedes and I think I wasn't done processing the first book yet 7y

I liked the characters and the premise, and it was overall a fast and suspenseful read. That said, the balance between romance and mystery and thriller wasn't evenly balanced - it would vary by scene which would take primacy, and that contributed to an uneven feel.

My first read from this author and I'm a fan. This one was more on the #suspense side, but it had enough #romantsy to satisfy. #bookblogger
