Pickpick

#backpackeurope travelogue *fictional*
Country 26: Switzerland! Fresh mountain air. Lots of chocolate. Mmm. Boated on Lake Lucerne, road the Jungfraujoch mountain railway, saw Rhine Falls, and hiked among the mountains.
This book is sweet - L'Engle's 2nd earliest book, from 1949, set at a boarding school in Switzerland. Flip is lovely and her friendship/romance with Paul is sweet. Fans of Back Home will enjoy this one. 5/5

I‘ve enjoyed sharing some of my favorites, most of them relatively unknown. Thanks for the initial tag, @BarbaraTheBibliophage and I‘d like to tag @mariaku21 ❤️

JSW Ignore the stupid stupid top tagline. 🙄 7y
JSW Also, this is how I knew Madeleine L‘Engle best. This and Camilla ( which I also loved and may need to find...) 7y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Love your picks for favorites! Thanks for playing along! 7y

And our inventory of the library collection continues...

I volunteered to read these two books—they haven‘t been checked out since 1988 and have terrible covers (likely a factor of when they were published) but they‘re by Madeleine L‘Engle. Time to move beyond A Wrinkle in Time and see what L‘Engle does with first love and a mystery.

Matt_S Look forward to your thoughts 7y

Mehso-so

This one goes from soso to ban.Story was ok but you can see 2 types of anachronism in it.This is a story of 2 young people that share a sad past, one of them more traumatic. They met & it seems that the universe conspire in favor of them, everything was resolved in a happy ending🙌🏼Do you think cover reflects 1949 time? I didn't know we had snapshots at that time. But the story was so-so. 2⭐️3.86 in GoodReads🤔It was part of a read challenge😝
