This book is an astonishing history of how the monarch, James I heavily influenced the witch trials in the early 1600s. Borman expores the conflict between Catholicism and Protestants at the time. She focuses on the tragic trial of the Flower women in Nottinghamshire. The history of this period fascinates me and this is the first time I've read such an intelligent, contextualised discourse on the subject. Highly recommended
