Into This River I Drown
Into This River I Drown | Tj Klune
4 posts | 2 read | 8 to read
Five years ago, Benji Green lost his beloved father, Big Eddie, when his truck crashed into a river. Everyone called it an accident, but Benji knows it was more. Even years later, he s buried in his grief, throwing himself into managing Big Eddie s convenience store in the small-town of Roseland, Oregon. Surrounded by his mother and three aunts, he lives day to day, struggling to keep his head above water. But Roseland is no ordinary place. With ever more frequent dreams of his father s death and waking visions of feathers on the river s surface, Benji finds his definition of reality bending. He thinks himself haunted; by ghosts or memories, he can no longer tell. Not until a man falls from the sky, leaving the burning imprint of wings on the ground, does Benji begin to understand that the world is more mysterious than he ever imagined and more dangerous. As uncontrollable forces descend on Roseland, they reveal long-hidden truths about friends, family, and the stranger Calliel a man Benji can no longer live without.

We are home and relaxing! We have a very rigorous schedule for PT but he is getting better every day! It‘s raining and cold! Two days ago it was in the 80‘s now in the 50‘s!

Just wondering if I‘m the only person who looks at more books to read than actually reading the ones I have?! I guess I feel like I will miss something! 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣

The rain made me think of this song 🎵 ☔️

BookBosomed1 👋 It‘s me. I love getting new books as my TBR stack grows. 🤷‍♀️ 13mo
IndoorDame Definitely not just you! 13mo
AmyG Ha! I always need more. I remember when we went on Covid lockdown. All I could think was -“I have been preparing for this”. 🤣 13mo

mrp27 As I like to say buying and acquiring books is just part of the hobby. 🤗 13mo
Morr_Books Me too! This is why I am always in the middle of so many books, because I don't finish them before picking up new ones that catch my eye. 13mo
marleed Oh absolutely. I look at the books I own as my own personal wine collection. I love looking at them, thinking about them, imagining the reading experience. But there‘s a right time to drink them in - and that day may not come for years. And if it never comes, it didn‘t impede on my enjoyment of owning that book and it‘s never realized potential. 13mo
dabbe #absolutelyditto! 💜 (in case “ditto“ wasn't enough!) 🤣 13mo

I devoured this book with rapt veneration. This story is a testament to the human experience, painful & glorious, angsty to the point of it engulfing you like a physical presence that emanated from the page. The seductiveness of the river was contagiously palpable, the metaphor poignant. Devotion between a father & his son was beautiful, the grief causing your bones to ache. Divine intervention rouses love that chases away the dark. Exquisite!

TheIntrovertedDodoBird @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I hope you enjoy it much as I did. Prepare to have your soul ripped to shreds!! I've never sobbed so much while reading a book. I'll keep a look out for your review to hear your thoughts on it ♡ Xx 1y

This is one of those books that I can only beat to read once. I love it, it‘s still one of my top ten reads of all time. At the same time it utterly destroyed me. It was cathartic for me in dealing with my dads death but left me emotionally wiped out. I didn‘t read anything else for a solid month after this one. As someone who reads around a book a day on average that should tell you how much it occupied my heart and mind.

TheIntrovertedDodoBird @Hayley3 I've never sobbed while reading a book as much as I did with Into The River I Drown. It ripped my soul to shreds. I'm opting for a funny, light-hearted read to recover ♡ Xx 1y

Every week, I'm highlighting #lgbtqauthors. 🏳️‍🌈 TJ Klune is a writer and Lamba-literary-award winner. He believes that it is important to have positive, accurate queer representation in literature, which is reflected in his work. #lgbtqvoices #lgbtq #queer

TheIntrovertedDodoBird @Kenyazero TJ is one of my favourite authors 😍. I have utter adulation for his positive queer representation and beautiful stories 🌈 Xxx 1y
