I'm also a sucker for a book about reading or libraries. Naturally this is on my list to read.
Calypso's mum died a few years ago and her incompetent Dad won't talk about her at all. Instead, he throws himself into writing his book A History of the Lemon. The house is dusty, there's never any food, and Calypso retreats into a world of books and fiction.
When Mae arrives at school, the girls' love of reading and writing draws them together. Maes friendship and her lively home made Calypso feel more normal than she has for a long time.
