This was more action packed and altogether a smoother read for me. We get the return of Lizzie Borden & Inspector Wolfe, and a bunch of new characters I was equally invested in.
The setting was muggy and gothic, and deliciously creepy. And I am left with even more questions! 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

pickI think the first book in the series is the stronger one, but I still rate this a pick. Overall I highly enjoyed it.
I wish I understood better the process of putting together a book. This last sentence of this page is leading me to a specific conclusion, but skipping ahead didn't answer the question... Do publishers/manufacturers do this on purpose? Leave an unanswered question at the bottom of the page to force you to continue reading, or is it just coincidence? Also, should I know the answer to this?

As disappointing as Boneshaker was, I LOVED Maplecroft. I'm very excited to dive into this sequel 🤩🤩😁😁
pickSo I forgot to mention that I started this. I made a trek to Chicago Saturday and this was the book I took with me to occupy my three hour train ride. I must have been more in the mood for this type of story than when I read the first one because I finished it in a couple days and really enjoyed it.
These were all on my TBB list - To Be Bought! Score! #ilovehpb !!! 😍 I loved Mapelwood, can't wait to start this one, and the Soulless series by Carriger!

First book haul of the year, from HPB. I have a beautiful hardback edition of sword in the stone but I like to have reader copies of my nice books so I feel comfortable tossing them in my bag and taking them out into the world.
I loved Cherie priest's Cheshire red series so I picked up chapelwood in the hopes that it will be as good as those were. Plus Lizzie Borden. Fun!
